Question '01 intake/intercooler swap in MM&FF

Hi guys;
I read the article in MM&FF re: '01 intake retro into a '99L. I was left a bit confused about the changed bolt pattern on the '01 M112 blower. They said it would not bolt to the '99 (and presumably '00) manifold. Yet the article said nothing about them having to get a new blower- just the manifold. Anyone here done the swap yet?

If so, I'm interested in hearing reports. I'm not willing to chip my truck at this point, but I want to explore all other engine mods that will help me get to the mid-13's. I'm open to good ideas, except 373's- I do way too much interstate driving for that.

TIA
Neil

The blower bolt pattern on the 01 is different. As far as getting to the mid 13's, that is very easy. Chip & filter and you are there. Or if you are chip shy throw a pulley and filter on.

I feel a 12.xx coming on.

The blower bolt pattern is different. On the 99-00 intake, the portion of the inside of the intake where it goes to the heads, is just an open chamber, and it has casting "columns" that go across the opening, for where the blower bolts tap into. On these intakes, they are not symmetrical. For 01, instead of an open chamber, they actually cast individual "runners" for each cylinder into the intake. Because of this, the part of the intake where to blower bolts go, now has to be between the ports, and so now the blower has a symmetrical bolt pattern. And you can't swap them between each other, because if you look under the blower case, it has a machined raised portion where the bolts go, and if you were to try to adapt one for the other, there would be space between the blower and intake. Hope this helps.

I was hoping the permanent I/C fix was going to be giving us the '01 setup- but it looks like that wont happen if they would have to give us a new blower as well. *sigh*
