Why would you want to move the battery?

Can you use a light switch from Home Depot? It already says OFF on it.

Switch schmitch.

An in-cab clap-on clap-off switch works best.

OK, OK, I thought this would be helpful to some, go on with the jokes LOL

HR,
You think Tony Stewart would be able to wire that switch after pulling double duty next week? lol

I am using the RED toggle swtich that you would use on a furnace its clearly marked as well, and looks great in the middle of my MM&FF novelty plate

Speedin',
See ya soon, we need to find a meeeting spot for the trip out west ..... The time is almost here

i don't understand...the ignition switch turns off the eng. no matter where the battery is located. why an external switch just because the battery is relocated--the ignition switch still works? dan

I think the intent is such that if the battery is stock, the emergency crews know where to get at it to shut it down...

If not stock, they need to be able to easily shut it down without looking for it... hence the OBVIOUS switch...

Has anyone completed a battery relocate kit for the L yet?

And is it possible to get external posts like on a lot of strip cars?

HR -

You would move the battery for....?
A. Open up the engine area for better cooling.

B. Better Weight Distribution

C. Make room for a JL Powercooler.

D. So you can post a message about your new mod.

Seriously, the switch on the plate frame is a great location.

Its required in the upper classes of what I do and in almost all forms of road racing except for Showroom Stock but the place ment is up to you,you have to have it clearly marked so as to be seen from a distance and in the international symable[sp].Stan

It's a safety factor. If you crash or flip, the emergency crew must have a fast way to kill power to the vehicle. It's required with a relocated battery, because when you move the battery from it's stock location, you increase the chance of problems with it mounted elsewhere.

This is the way i did the battery cut off!
1-run a # 1 cable from the ON side of the switch up to the original battery cable that hooks to the seliniod on the fire wall.
2-unhook the altenator cable from the seliniod on the fire wall and hook to a #2 wire and ran it back to the battery side of the switch.
3- take a #1 wire and run from the battery Positive side to the battery side of the switch same side as the altenator wire.
4- run a #2 wire from the negative side of the battery to a good ground on the frame.(make sure you clean the paint ect. away before connecting the ground to the frame!
5- up front i just cleaned a spot on the frame of the truck and i connected the ground wire to the frame..
keep in mind i didn't cut ANY factory wires because i might want to put it back to stock again 1 day.....I hope this helps and if there's an easier way don't tell me because i'm FINISHED! J/K LOL! ( Have Fun!) JL

I've been thinking of relocating my battery to make room for the JLPowercooler, but I can't keep the battery in the bed because I need all the space I can get back there for my motocross shaz. Has anyone found anywhere else (under the bed somewhere possibly) to relocate the battery to? Better yet, does anyone have pics of (1) their relocated battery (in any location), or (2) the location and setup/wiring of this NHRA legal switch? Also (I know, questions, questions), where have you guys purchased your battery relocation kit from, how much did it cost, and how difficult would you rate the install? Thats it, I promise. Thanks...
