Are you programming your chips for your pulleys? If so, what are you programming to do? Also, can you make one of your CUX1 programmed chips into a chip for an 01?
Thanks

I only make changes in the chip if the particular truck needs it. Most trucks run perfectly fine if you just bolt it on. You can't "convert" a CUX1 file to a CXN1 file, because the base program in the PCM is different. You can manually enter the data, but unfortunately, Ford really put a lot of "garbage code" into the 01 PCM, there isn't nearly half the stuff in there I can modify on a CUX truck.

Are you telling us that as a tuner, you can play with more things on the 1999 and 2000 trucks than you can play with on the 2001? Are any of these things a real problem? How long do the tuners continue to fiddel with the old programs?

Andy, I am always looking to improve on what's out there, even my own stuff. It's over two years since I bought our 99, but I am still improving the programs. My expiriance as a Ford tech, being trained in Ford drivability and EEC diagonoisis, allows me to better improve my chips overall. Now let me explain a bit about the software..
In a Ford PCM, there are basically two banks of memory that store information. One bank is what the chip overrides, and the other bank can't be changed. In order to read that second bank, the chip would have to contain a program that allows it to read it. It is agianst the Federal law for chip makers to distribute the program that allows this. So any PCM paramters that Ford puts in the "second" data bank, cannot be modified with a chip. A good example is the 96-97 Cobra. You can't change injector size or control the electric fan on one with a chip, because Ford chose to put that in the second bank. Well, for the 01s, Ford put A LOT of the parameters in that bank, leaving use with only about 30% of the parameters I have access to in a CUX PCM. I really does suck, because we cannot do a lot of the tweaks we did in CUX on CXN1. Also, Ford put a lot of "garbage code" (code that does nothing, just makes it harder to decode the PCM) in there. The one nice thing about the Autologic software, is that all I have to do is tell Mike W. to add in a new parameter, and then I can start tweaking it. The other guys are at the mercy of the mother companies for support like that. Hope this helps..
