Post Speakers - All 4 or 2?

Want to replace speakers. Should I go ahead and replace all four or just the two door ones? Seems to me like the two behind the seats are pointless, so why replace them?

I would replace them all...here is my reason: If you replace the front ones only, you will be more likely to have the volume higher since they will sound better and then you will surely blow the rear speakers. When you blow the rear speakers, you will definately notice them and you will realize that you can hear those speakers when you have a full setup running.

I just replaced the door speakers only with some Pioneer TS-A6865's. The difference is awesome! Those stock speakers are garbage. This is just a start to what I'm doing with the sounds, but all I do is fade the sound to the front, so I don't blow the stock speakers in the rear deck. The Pioneers sound great, BTW.

Do the rears eventually, but you don't have to do them all at once...

How easy is it to pull the door panels to get to the front speakers? If its not too bad maybe I'll change all 4. Thanks

Anything is better than the original speakers.

I've taken the back speakers out and I'm only putting front components in. The void left by the rears made a great spot for installing other toys.

My Infinity Kappa Perfect components should be here tomorrow. Nothing's too good for my Lightning.

I got this same help from this board last week when I replaced mine...

There's a plastic piece on the door window frame that not a part of the door panel. It pops right off. Once that's off, there's a screw that you can take out. Then pop off the oval plastic piece around the inside door handle, it also pops right off. There's the second screw to take out. Then you can remove the panel with the door lock and window buttons - pop off the front edge first (the point) and pull up. Unplug the window and door lock controls and the door panel should lift and come right off. A hint, though: roll down the windows before you start - it makes it easier to guide the door lock back into place when you're putting the door panel back on.

Good luck!

last week I had 2 JL Audio XR570CX two-way speakers installed in the doors, just disconnected the rear speakers (which are a total waste of watts/space), put a JL 10" 10W0 sub behind the seats and a JL 300/4 amp pushing 75 watts to each door speaker and 150 to the sub. sounds AWESOME. If youre going to replace the speakers, even if you dont put in a amp, i would recommend disconnecting the rears (or you can always just put the fade all the way forward) and putting in some good 2/3 way speakers.

Madhouse,
Speakers make a big difference eh? I'm gonna try anything to get a better sound, but a little at a time. I was thinking of Pioneers also. I just wanted to know I wasn't wasting money.

Gitchi -

It's not a waste of money. It won't get you show-quality sounds, but it's a big difference. Those Pioneers are kind of budget speakers (mine were $59/pr.), but they sound good.

I'd go with Polk audio. I have had Pioneer in the past and I had some Polks in my last car and they sounded bitchen!

Polks.... DX-7's in all four corners.

Even if you don't do a sub, you'll really enjoy the difference..

I have had polk's db7 for about a year. They sound pretty good. I just bought Kenwoods Excelon KFC-X688C 5x7's. They sound way better than the polks. The kenwoods are rated at 220 watts, and the polks are 130 watts. The kenwoods high's and low's are way better than polks. If you are planning to hook up a amp to them i would go with the kenwoods. To answer you question i would take out your storage compartment and leave the stock speakers in the rear alone. I've found that the stock rear speakers sound better than the polks or the kenoods. For some reason they give off better, tighter bass than the other two. I have the stocks hooked up to my kenwood deck and my excelon's hooked up to a ads amp. I have tryed 4 db7's, and i think that the stock speaker's sound the best in the rear.

?????

I still can't find any info. on Polk's site about a "DB7". I don't see anything on Crutchfield's either.

The Polk DX7's are 130W and work fine with an amp..

Casper:
To say the factory speakers sound better than Polk or Kenwoods speaker makes me think you have the polarity set backwards?

Stock speakers suck....

Just my .02
