Spike,
That would be the quickest and easiest way for sure, LOL. Maybe I should have said without tearing anything up.
I when and reinvented the wheel anyway. 2 pipe wrenches and remove the supercharger belt to get it out of the way. Put one on the rusty shaft coming from the water pump and let it bump against the aluminum bracket that has the 2 idler pulleys for the supercharger belt. Put the other wrench on the shaft coming from the fan that's shaped like a nut about 1 3/4". Turn counterclockwise. By having the one wrench bump up against something then you can put all your a$$ into pulling on the other wrench. Once it snaps loose you can turn it by hand the rest of the way.
There it is in case anybody else wants to know.

How did you know which way to turn it/ Usually they are clockwise to loosen on Fords and the Lightning is like backwards from that.I though it was strange but anyway, you forgot to mention what a pain it is getting it out of the shroud
Everything running on the front side of the serpentine belt are usually clockwise (lower pulley) and everything on the backside of the belt (water pump and fan) are usually counterclockwise. Hope this helps.
