01 purchase update!
After much searching in Georgia for an L at X plan price I finally got it! I'm grateful for the advice I got here, you guys are great!
I started by sending emails to all the dealers in N. Ga. asking if they'd do the x plan. The list from Ford may be a problem because 2 emails came back as undeliverable weeks(?) after I sent them. Maybe email isn't the best way. The 2 dealers that will sell under the x plan are in Union City and Rome. Union City had a red one, Rome had a black one and that's what I got. After some initial encounters with 'dishonesty', I'm glad I waited and am happy with the effort Rome gave me after all of my hemming and hawwing. If anyone needs help buying in Ga. let me know and I'll try to help.
The drive home was so nice, even though I'm breaking in my baby gently. The L has such a wonderful feeling of power and stability and the blower whine above part throttle is so entertaining that I could go without a radio.

mike; my silver 01 is on order from gene evans ford in union city-bot at xplan. the sales mgr. told me after several xplan sales(after mine was posted here) that they have no more x's but will entertain discounts below msrp. at this time, i have been fairly treated and with no surprises--but, i won't take delivery until mid-may. hope the good treatment continues.

When did you see that red 01 L in Union City? I have already claimed that one. That is I have put a downpayment on it and have a sales slip. According to the salesman he has it on the showroom floor.
I have to say thanks to whoever posted the link to the EAA website. I have been shopping Ls for six months. Two days after getting my pin I'm the proud owner of a Red 01 L (29,400)
