What's your opinion about leaving nice quality 5x7's(Polk DX7) in the doors and putting the 6.5 drivers in the back slots?

Would they fit?

hmm.. i dont know if the midbass driver will fit back there without a little work.

you may have to trim the stock hole with some tin snips to get the 6.5 to fit. i'm pretty sure you'll have plenty of mounting depth.
get some foam baffles (shown beside the 6.5 driver) to put in there.. it'll help the sound.

If you want to get 6 1/2 MB quarts in the door you are going to have to make some kind of custom adaptor. You can buy them on the net or make your own like I did.

Here is what my door looked like after I put the dynamat.

I covered the rear holes with wood and but dynamat over them. My truck sounds good with only 2 speakers and one sub. I have another sub coming but am in no rush because the stereo sounds really good right now.

Hey Clonetek:

The "Q Form kick panels" looked cool....I'm going to check into getting some....So you are they easy to find or did you special order them?

Looked at your Zing pictures, That is a killer system you installed..Looked like a very clean install...

Thanks for the help.

Hi CornerCarver:

No, I'm not the guy that had a supercharged Camaro....sorry

I have my truck on order at Bobby Jones Ford, Red w/tonneau, got it under the X-Plan there....Thanks to this web site, I saved thousands off sticker, I couldn't believe that Bobby Jones would even sell me one under the X-Plan, but they did..Car slaes must be slow everywhere...The truck was built 4/23/01, should be at dealer by May 10...

Could you post your friend's phone#..thanks

I had my E-mail address in my profile, then I removed it. I got some viruses sent to my E-mail address, I think they came from one of the boards, NLOC, SVT,F-150..I'm not sure how it got sent to me, but be careful,It was that snow white and seven dwarfs virus, anyway, I deleted it...

We'll have to meet up sometime, I live in Evans...I ordered some 20" chrome 99-00 wheels for my truck with a bunch of members from the NLOC site...Already have the 20" tires...I hope the wheels arrive before my truck gets here, I'd like to put the 20's on before I leave the dealership...

Thanks for info,
later
DL

DL,

His name is Larry Hurell. His work number is 1-770-514-1299 (that's the installation bay # at HiFi Buys in Kennesaw). We've both been doing competion systems for over 13 years although I haven't really done much of anything for the last couple years since I don't have a shop to work out of.

Hi CornerCarver:

Thanks for the number...
I used to get all my custom work done at Custom Sound 15 years ago, but they aren't as good as they used to be and Anything Audio is not my favorite place, after that, not much left to choose from....

I was going to do the stereo system first, but I decided to buy the 99-00 20" chrome wheels and they set me back a litle bit..I was going to have the stock 01 wheels chromed, but instead, I decided to keep them stock and get the 20's...I can always go back to the stock ones, If I don't like the way the 20's ride...

I plan on installing a stereo system by the end of summer, hopefully sooner...

Thanks again,
DL
