Cool Woodburn, OR drags April 29th

Okay, calling out all the local northwest Lightning owners for a day at the Woodburn drags on Sunday, April 29th!

This will be my first time out as a participant, and I'm really excited to see just what my 'old' 2000 is capable of (as long as I don't break it).

Directions as written by Silver-Bolt:
"I-5 South, take the Woodburn exit, turn right at the top of the ramp, track is on the left about a mile or so from the freeway. About 45 minutes from the Or/Wa border. Just a warning. If you bring your wives/girl friends or both there is a huge outlet mall at the same exit."

Silver-Bolt, 2nd Bolt, RedVoodoo, and everyone else... I'm hoping to meet everyone there!

~rick

PS: Don't forget to wear your Lightning polo shirts. Heh.

Can't wait to see what it will run now. Hope the weather cooperates.

For all of the out of towners. Woodburn is a small facility, pretty good track, good prepping, sealevel. End of April shout still have cool temps and low humidity, and with any luck high baro. The track does not host any national events. Their two big events are the Pro-Stock Inventational (right before the NW Nationals) and They do have a Top Alcahol event.

If the weather holds should see some pretty fast and fun times.

Thumbs up

Oh yeah, everybody bring it on!

http://www.woodburndragstrip.com

I think cost is $20- +$10- for your number. Go to the "2001 Schedule Link" from the above web page. RedVoodoo or Silver-Bolt would know better than I.

Looking forward to the street legal drags for the 'grudge-matches'... I've got some HS students who're itching to take on the Lightning...

It's $30 to race and $10 for an NHRA competition number good for all year. Get there by 8:00 am (gates open) so you've got plenty of time to get your truck through tech inspection. Also, the earlier you get there the more time trial runs you'll get to figure out about where you'll run for elapsed times. Usually 3-4 runs before eliminations. That is if some POS 70's El Camino/Camaro/Chevelle doesn't lay down 1320 feet of oil/gas/antifreeze to clean up. Then you might only get two qualifying runs before eliminations. Keep your fingers crossed the weather is good. See you there.

Don't forget the sunscreen. That sun will just bake you while your standing around waiting to get your two runs in. If memory serves me correct, it will be the left side of your face and neck that gets burned.
When ETs are finally over, and eliminations begin... the sun is usually starting to go down, ....... along with the temp. Which results which usually results in dialing in to slow,(or driving to fast) which leads to breakout, which means you got 3 whole runs that day.

But hey, I love it. Nothing beats spending a day at the track. Nothing says "Springtime" like burning rubber and LOUD motors.(God do I miss the days of funnycars at PIR) If any of you lighting owners in the Metro area haven't ever been to the drags before ..... YOU GOTTA GO, wether your racing or just spectating... you gotta go.
