JDM Engineering sells and recomends the 170 thermostat. I have mine on order, I bought the 160 last summer, cause thats the only thing I could find at the time. The 160 worked fine in my truck but Jim thinks its a little on the cool side.

Question

I still have the stock thermostat, but all of the fuel injected vehicles I have ever owned have run much better when they are stone cold. My last car ('98 Cobra) ran about 2.5 10th's quicker when the temp guage was bottomed out. The same has been true for my new L. It runs 13.80's at operating temp. & 13.50's (time slips to prove) when I let it cool down. Just my .02.

Cool

Forget what you know about mustangs or vettes and remember this is a truck with no problems fitting a larger cooling system under the hood. Not trying to be a smarta$$ but pull out your owners manual and read the fluid capacities. When you get through shaking your heads come back and lets talk. My gauge runs in the same place whether it's 30 degrees or 95 degrees.

Great info. Ray, I think I need to try this finally, with summer almost here, I wouldn't mind running a little cooler.
As for the 170's...I've heard of them, but never seen them, does somebody really make these??
