When I picked up my Red '01 yesterday, my salesman said he thinks this will be the last year for a while. He also mentioned the Jack Roush would be more involved when production resumes in a couple or three years.

IMHO, 99 percent of salespersons selling these trucks don't know how to spell their own names. I'd take anything a salesperson tells you with a 5 gallon bucket of salt.

Man if that's true, I'm glad I got my '01. I was wondering about the '02 model myself but no one at my dealer knew anything about it.

Your salesman is a complete moron....

there will be an 02....and how much more involved can Roush get at this point? They pretty much engineer the whole truck.

Anybody seen the Lightning Rod? (cool name eh, Rod like street rod and Lightning rod like what is on my roof). I think it is in the new Trukin Magazin. Styleside box (not flare) and a more pronounced front facsia. I still like the looks of the '01 L better but this was neat too.

P.S. there is only a small pic in the book so don't buy it just for that. I will see if I can scan it someday

There is an article in the current MM&FF about how SVT will cease to exist and that Ford will probably outsource the design and engineering of these special vehicles to Rousch or McLaren Technologies.

It might be true...

Seeing how they upped the H.P., and some other changes on the 01, and from what I here is a new body style for all the F150's in 03, I would guess the 02 will be about the same as the 01

Car Salesmen are idiots.
When I bought my Lightning, I clearly knew ten times as much about what my truck was all about than they did.
Same with the Cobra.
I remember after owning my snake for a couple of years and walking into a dealership to check out the new 99's. A salesman walked up to me and said in an authoritive knowledgeble tone "320 horsepower, 0 - 60 in 5.5 seconds!"
While I was looking at the engine and holding the hood up with my hands, I let the hood fall to shut it as I turned to him and said "really, I know all about these cars, been driving one for 2 years." I pointed at my white coupe outside and said "450 (rwhp), 0 - 60 in Oh-sh*t".
His mouth was still agape from the hood thing.
Idiot.

Man... BBQ... where do you come up with this stuff?? Mind-boggling!

Anyway... this salesguy is not an idiot, he is a salesguy...he's going to say anything he can to get a sale right now... if he can convince you where wont be another L for a few years... his chances of get a sale on the '01 just went way up!
