2001 LIGHTNING OWNERS!!!!!!!
First dyno on my 2001 L.
2350mi. Truck at normal operating temp. Air temp 79 degrees, 58% humidity, barometer 30.13 inches and steady. Factory Boost Guage DEAD ON 10lbs.
SAE HP= 319.8 SAE TORQUE= 413.
What is up with these numbers?????
Is this about normal for a BONE STOCK 2001???
Please, all of your input would be appreciated!!

thats it, im getting mine dyno'd. Im no engineer but thats a lot of loss through the drive train from 380 hp, which is what these things are advertised!!! Thats not far off of 300 hp at the wheels and I saw a 99 cobra with exhaust get 295. at the wheels. through IRS. out of a 4.6 and heres a beefy 5.4 with a blower. have you ran yours at the track? I havent really ran mine yet but when I got out and stretched its legs I SWEAR my 00 gt was faster. I dont think thats normal but like I said my last name isnt an experts like Shelby or something.

Everyone knows that you don't compare two different trucks in two different places on two different days with dynos.
Dynos are a approximation at best, where they shine is when a base line dyno run is made and an immediate performance change is added or removed and then redynoed to see if an improvement is made or not.
Bottom line, no race has ever been won on a dyno or is a dyno run the word from god.

good post, here is something else to think about. Its important that when you are on the dyno to NOT baby the truck. As soon as the truck crosses over the point in the RPM range that you know it won't shift down into second gear, then you have to go WOT-ASAP.
When I dyno my truck, I know that as soon as the speedo crosses 60MPH, it won't down shift to 2nd. This also happens to be at about 3000 RPM, and I think these trucks make max torque at 3250. Your speed numbers might be different than mine cause I got 4.10 gears.
I watched a guy run his truck at a dyno a while back and noticed that he wasn't going WOT until late in his run. He made 365 HP and only 417 Trq. We talked about it, and when he run it again, his second set of numbers were over 370 HP and 462 Trq. That is a pretty dramatic increase and all he did was change his driving style on the dyno.
Hope this helps

It is possible to hammer the throttle just as soon as the rear wheels start moving and do a 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd dyno run. You will get major HP peaks but you will still get an accurate HP reading from the dyno. I can't tell you how many cars that I have seen dyno like this. Some even chirp the tires on the dyno drum when the trans shifts...

judging by the cars that guy owns, Id assume he either knows how to operate a dyno, or he can afford someone who does. he was running below sea level to boot... thats a ridiculous barometer reading.

Both Temp and Humidity were up. I got a difference of 14 Hp from an 80 degree day to a 60 degree day. No other modifications were made.

Guys dynos take into consideration barometric pressure and air temprature when you dyno. That is why there is a corrected and uncorrected number. That is why a guy who dynos at sea level will dyno the same number at altitude when corrected. At least that's the way it should be. This way the playing field will be level for all. The track now is a whole differant story...
