Talking First time with MT Streets...Results

Well, at Cecil today, I broke in the MT's. I was a little disappointed early on, as the track was pretty slick. My first few runs were 2.00's

After a little track warm up, and some tire roasting I was seeing consisten 1.94's and pretty consistent 13.24, 13.25's @ 103....

While I have hit some 1.97's on F1's, I never did it with the pro-sport on. I certainly believe that the pro-sport cover is making it hard to get a better/quicker launch.

Maybe with a little better hook, I can see 13.1's (I believe).

I think the ticket is the lower pulley. I gotta get something to get me out of the hole quicker....I think then 12's will be obtainable.....

4D.....Its definitely worth it...As the same program without the slicks was giving me 2.xx's all day long, and a best of 13.4x consistently. Keep in mind, I plan on retaining the pro-sport on...

As a side note, its fun to smoke em and not see $$ signs disappearing like with the F1's.

Unhappy

Damn. You're supposed to say you were pulling 1.7's and 1.8's. I can usually get 1.9's with my F-1's and an occasional 1.8. Oh well, good runs anyway.

Boss is givin' me crap about this coming Saturday(28'th) so I may just go up Friday nite after work and **yawn** my way through Saturday.

Glad you got back safe.

Cool

I'm with you on the $$$. I like the M/T's (26 X 10.5). I made two passes Friday night and was very impressed. I ran a 13.462 & 13.463 with some 1.95 60's.

I pray for 2.0s

I have no idea what it feels like to be catapulted towards the end of a 1/4 with a blistering 2.0something 60'. My personal best is a 2.139 I think.

I must not be very religious.

I'm an Atheist so I doubt that has any effect Tundra.

Brian,

I only wish I had a little time to play with your truck, I think we could have improved on that 60' of yours.
I, along with many others remove the front sway bar for a better "squat" and suspension extension under launch. It sounds like a pain in the A S S to do, but not really, only about 15 minutes after you have done a few times.

And of course...tire pressure is the main thing. Pressure will go up during a burnout and could affect your 60'. I found the best pressure for me early on.. I started at 19, then dropped to 17 for the remainder of the day and had a low 1.71 60' and as high as 1.82.
I was checking my pressure right before the next run, I usually want time to let the tire cool before taking a reading.
You'll get it..just a little more practice and play with tire pressure, but never go lower than what you feel comfortable with..otherwise the Top-End of the track will feel like a skating rink. LOL Trust me...I know

All,

Some facts that may effect my recent 60's:

Before adding on the pro-sport cover, I could hit 1.97's on F1's. After adding the cover my first time out was at the JDM event. 60's were in the 2.0x's all day. While we had a big head wind, I don't suspect it tremendously effects your 60.

Keep in mind the pro-sport is about 120lbs...

Best 60 yesterday was 1.94. Avg was 1.96-ish. The only 2.00x were the first 3 runs. Track was pretty slick and tires were un-touched.

I ran 18lb's in them all day. Checked/adjusted before each run.

I suspect that the pro-sport is definitely holding me back a bit.

So...I was thinking of removing the hitch to help compensate for the added lid weight. BUT, I am going to get a lower pulley on there first and see if that helps lower the 60's.

Call me stupid...but I want to run with the truck in street fashion. I'm not one to remove seats, spares, hitches and every nut and bolt at the track. That is just my opinion.

I truely believe that the pulley will make a difference.

Here are some #'s before and after the pro-sport and MT's:

best before pro-sport and MTs: 13.28 @102.31

best after pro-sport BUT BEFORE MT's: 13.43 @ 102.38

Best after pro-sport and MT's: 13.24 @ 103.32

So, I added 100+ lb's and shaved .04 off and gained 1.1 from pre-lid days

OK...One day I will take it all off and run...

Cool

Yea Man you are correct about those damn slicks. I was turning 1.82 -1.84 60' with my F1 and caltrac's. I broke down and spent the money for the slicks only to see 2.03 - 2.05 60' times and dropped from 12.96 to 13.2. I was, and still am sick!! People watching tell me I was spinning those slicks, and that is with caltrac's. Yea, they were real warm before the run. Any way, I did not know we could spin those damn things, hell people run in the 10.s' on them and I can't hook to run in the high 12.s'.

Are you running any type of traction bars. To get the ET Streets to bite, you have to transfer as much weight onto them as possible. Try loosening the front sway bar mounts where they mount to the frame. It will allow the front end to lift more easily.

I bet if you added Cal Tracs, the ET streets would bite much better.

I built a set of "slapper" traction bars for my truck, and was able to maintain consistant 2.03-04 60 ft. times on worn out F1's
