01 GT (well driven)
I lined up with this fellow twice. The score is even. Dirty tires = crappy traction.
It was a cool night. Action was at its plateau. I kept an eye out for a white 01 Firehaw---Well, lets cut to the chase....
The first light, I throw a rev, and he gets the point. In my rear, are a 00 SS, and that fast talon. The light goes green, so I stab the throttle, only to hear my exhaust rev. I spun, and let off the throttle. Thinking that I wasn't lined up with a new GT, the Lightning shifted into second. Thats when it hooked, and stayed in second. The GT walked away slowly. I was almost livid. The kid riding with me started talking trash, calling me a crappy driver. We catch the next light, and I tell him;
"Man those GTs are quick! You think we can try that again? I have never lost to one of those kind before, only raced the older ones..." Or along those lines, I was feeding them lines. They tell me nice truck, but we are going home. I am thinking you aren't gonna get away with this, and ask if we can go at it on the way 'home.'
"The highway, last light." Answer to my prayers.
This is a different spot than the usual, its about 5 miles away, but its straight, and straight for a long shot. Definatly more than a 1/4 mile. I am at the light waiting, honing in on my launch technique. The light goes green, and I get a better than average launch. Mr. Shotgun couldnt get he camera to work, so he just hung on. This ride costs 4 tickets.
Behind me was the Talon, if any of you guys saw the video of the yellow C5, he pretty much did the same thing. I pulled a good car between bumpers to about 45, then another 1/2 to about 80. This was when that damn Talon had to rear his sleeper head to put the stang in his place. There wasn't enough room for him to get around, so he fell back. From 80 to about 100, the GT stayed right there, a good length or 2 from my rear. Right around the top of 3rd, he started to inch lost ground. Around 115-120 I shifted into 4th, and thats when he gained a whole lotta gound, and passed me at 125.
The look on the passengers face was priceless. He made one funny face too many (you know what mom says). It was the WFT just happened look, from when I took off at the light. It just froze on his face.
That was just Friday night, I am too tired to write about the exotic I killed just a few hours ago. Filming movies takes a lot out of a man.
