Post Lightning Supercab

Has Ford ever considered this? The extra space is a must for me, but I'd love to have a supercab version of the L!!

I'd like a Pantera that seats 4 and a Cobra that has more trunk space.

Cool

I sense a little sarcasm here but I have considered this. I also remember a company that built Super Cab Gen 1 Lightnings. I however intend to build a SuperCrew Lightning after all these are trucks, why not maximize utility, while maintaining fun factor. This way I can justify holding on to my convertible forever, while still never growing bored with my daily ride.

MY $0.02,
Gabe

On the cover of Truck Trend they had a picture a of a Lightning Expedition, not sure if it was a prototype or gonna be production, next time I guess I should read the article.

But if they gonna consider a Lightning Expedition, then I gues the weight of the vehicle shouldn't be a factor at all, so why not a X-cab lightning.

And if we asking for the impossible here, I'll take a Viper engine drivetrain in my truck.

black 97' x-cab 4x4, 5 speed 4.6, black westin nerf bars, pilot ground searchers, borla SS split rear exhaust, K&N genII, bosch +4 plugs, superchip, flexalite electric fan, v-tech oval side window covers, IAS shocks

premier 720, pioneer 6cd changer, 12 premier sub, premier componets, 2 soso amps

still to come: new spark plug wires, new rims and tires, maybe a supercharger eventually.

Stretch the wheelbase for an extended cab, or God forbid, a supercrew, and you have a foul-handling, deathtrap-in-a-corner, heavier/slower-performing, no-weight-transferring, bad-braking-dynamics, truck. You're welcome to build yourself one (basically supercharging and body-cladding a standard F150 I would suppose), but don't hold your breath for Ford to come out with one. It would be lambasted by the media. When you stretch the length of the truck, it immediately ceases to perform and handle within the parameters that the Lightning was conceived. It has always, 1st and 2nd gen, been a complete performance package. That's what makes the it something special. The truck actually WORKS when driven hard. An extended cab would not.

Hmmmmm what was that about a extended cab L that would not handle. I have owned a reg cab and this supercab and let's clear one thing up. The extra few inches and only 300 lbs actually help the ride and handling more than you'd think!

Someone else, i think, listed another post about this and got basically the same reaction. can't have your cake and eat it to would be my two cents but to reply to the comment by SpuperCab Lightning about the handling.

I had a lariat extended cab before my lightning and the handling is not nearly as good. i would challenge anyone to try and follow me through the curves on any stock supercab, extended cab, whatever you call them. i can take curves, 20-30 miles faster on the L than i could on the lariat. i have won several races with other truck drivers in this area by leading them down a curvy road.

the lightning suspension is a lot better than the regular f-150 setup. i believe that goes for both generations.. (both are lowered & tuned better i believe)

Supercab Lightning's truck IS a lightning that has been stretched to accomodate the extended cab. so, the suspension on it will be better than a regular f-150.

MM&FF reported with a pic a couple of months ago on a Harley SuperCrew with the L engine.

I believe someone from this list poked around a lot at Ford and actually saw one.

Not that it will ever make production, but apparently some at Ford are considering it.
