help/advice on upcoming summer mods!

gents,

I'm going to be starting looking at getting all my mods ordered for spring and i was wondering if you could lend any advice to a fairly new L owner as these will be my first mods to the truck since i've owned her:

starting off, i already have a FTVB, 4#lower, JLP intake, JLP traction bars, SCT chip, magna-flow exhaust, autometer boost gauge (all done by previous owner) and L&S oil seperator.

I am looking at going to a 6# lower, afco dual pass intercooler rad w/ fans, SCT 90mm MAF, SCT chip (multiple tunes) and a tune from steeda in milton ontario, stiegemeier port w/ rotor strip and snout rebuild, clean the intercooler, new plugs (TR6) gapped to .034, drive shaft loop, autometer A/F gauge – fuel pressure gauge and aeroforce interceptor gauge, new fuel filter, and nitto 555DR’s. possibly a line lock kit too (is this really needed as i dont race that much?)

My only other mod is possibly going w/ an upper pulley. I am unsure of what to go w/ or if it’s even worth it w/ possibly being on the high power end of the stock block.

Any input is appreciated!!
Oh, and I do plan on owning my L for a long time, and I don’t see a build motor or whipple/KB in the near future.

Thanks,
Sean

Looks like you already did your homework.

Take it to Joe Dasylva. He'll get that baby humming for you.

Steeda in Milton have little to no experience with Lightnings, and basically don't know their *** from their elbow.

TrackBeast, have you been to both places? the truck was originally tuned at DaSilva, and due to their lack of knowledge at the time i was told not to go back there.
Does anyone in Ontario have any knowledge on lightnings???
I think i should call both places and see what kind of time they each have tuning lightnings.

Well for most of us it is all about locality, with that being said find the best Tuner within your region if at all possible.
For many reasons,,,,,, climate, $ saved in a "drive" to be tuned, plus you can reach out and touch them so to speak
Next being, the better tuners are few, regionally you have and I would recommend J.J.

"Real Tune" to me is a local Road/Dyno tune done at two/three times a year, Winter, Spring/Fall and a Summer tune. Two or Three tunes (I myself run only one) and some wit's about yourself and she will run strong for you for many years.

When I spoke to Steeda 2 years ago, they wanted 4 hours on the dyno @$150/hour+++++. Kept asking questions and it became obvious they had never done a Lightning. Even amongst Mustang guys, I've never heard anything good about Steeda in Milton.

Can you explain lack of knowledge? Dasylva have done several Lightnings, Cobras and Mustangs are his specialty. ECMs are all the same, so tuning them is similar. In any case, most SCT dealers use the base SCT tune and tweak it, unless you have crazy mods. They make is sound like magic but it really isn't. Call SCT techs with your questions and deal with Joe directly.

Another option for you is SHM. Sean Hyland used to have a Lightning. A friend of mine drove it and it ran very, very well. He built a track/hp street Cobra for another friend as a complete turnkey project and it has been excellent for the last 4 years.

Let me know how it works out.
