Unhappy Easy Kill, Hard Ending

Driving home from school the other night, and stop at light, no big deal. Mustang pulls up along side! Racing strips Hood scoop, sounded really nice the whole nine.
He starts giving it gas, inching up. So I figure he has done some work on it, or as never seen a L. I look over and him and his buddy start knoding their heads to see if I'm game, So I say whatever, light changes and we are off. Tires are alittle worn so the truck is sideways all the way through the intersection, so I let off the gas and straighten her out. This get the guy 3-4 cars lengths on me, but when she strightens I step on it and walked all over him!! Then a mile down the road I see light approaching fast, first thought (another victim) Red and Blue lights killed that thought quickly.
Better luck to the rest of you!

I am suprized that I don't hear about that happening more often.
Maybe people just don't post it when it does.

I hope you didn't get it too bad, cause they can arrest us for reckless driving and tow the truck!

That's one that stays on a driving record for 7 years!

I am always looking around for the "law" when a potential race commences.

Take care.

A mile is an awfully long distance away, how did they see what you were doing? Had you slowed down by then? What did they nail you with?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I feel for you! It's time for me to admit my own shame... Last night, I went to the midnight street drags again. I wasn't dragging though, just watching - as I told someone there, the cops have me too paranoid to risk it. So anyway, we move to a different location after the cops break up the previous one. I was looking for a parking place and thought I saw one, so I get in the center turn lane. I changed my mind and pulled out, back into the regular lane. I see another one a little further down on the other side, so I pull into the turn lane again and make a U-turn (legal).

Red and blue lights in my rear-view. CRUD!!!

So of course I park right away and Mrs. officer and I begin our conversation. After the requisite lecture, I ended up getting an "unsafe maneuver" ticket for the first thing I did, pulling back into traffic from the turn lane. I don't think it's too major, but it still sucks major azz since I was consciously doing what I could to not get a ticket! I wasn't racing and my truck is bone stock. I even have the front license plate on, which kills me. Nobody would've even noticed that move if I wasn't in the group of street racers, and that's why I got the ticket.

On the somewhat bright side, I can take traffic school and have it erased, but I still have to pay the fine and pay for the school, as well as sacrificing a Saturday. Stupid me.

Moral of the story, if you're going to run with the bad boys, you'd better be 100% perfectly legal or you'll get popped.

Exclamation

I was told I could be arrested and have truck towed, but got off with just a ticket for racing. Was told I have my three options court, points, or school. So school it is! Not sure what I have to pay as far as ticket, officer didn't specify. He didn't catch me speeding so I am hoping for just moving violation. (untill I'm told otherwise)

are you sure you have 3 options.
round here if you get a ticket you have to go to court.
then they give you the option of traffic school or letting your insurance know about it.
you get points even if you go to school.
also they cant give you a ticket for racing unless you are speeding. how can they prove you were racing if they dont have a speed?

if you think because you got sideways well that could happen any where. you get a moving violation for that.

around here wreckless driving can be as little as breaking traction on any tire, ie squealing front tires on turn. exhibition of speed can be given for accelerating too quickly in the officers judgement. and yes you can get a ticket for impeding traffic while speeding if doing so while directly next to another vehicle such as racin'. finally lifting the front wheel of your cycle (ninja zx6r) and cutting off an unmarked cop can get you wreckless, or in my case a warning with a lecture about how he'll wait to scrape me off the pavement.
beware the tax man out there.

You'd all love how they handle tickets in Southern Illinois. You can just plead guilty and pay the ticket, which is 75 bucks, and you get court supervision. Which means if you don't get another violation in 90 days the ticket never gets put on your record.

I pulled a good one yesterday. I was at a stoplight, green light go, sideways til it hits secondkeep on it til 60 then pull over in front of my friends car (who I was giving a quick ride). Officer frieldly pulls up to my window and asks what was that about? I said mt friend has never ridden in one of these before, I was just giving him a ride. he saysis that a 2001? I say no a 2000. He says OK, have a nice day. 0-60 in a 30 through a 6 way intersection! Man I love this truck! Lloyd

Cool

Here in CA there are some infractions that require a court appearance, such as doing 118 in a 65 like me last year. Fortunately a year has elapsed so I won't lose my license if I get another ticket, but it still impacts my insurance for another two years. Just another reason I shouldn't be doing any street racing.
