Post rear exit pipes

anyone tried running dual pipes out the back of a lightning ? if so,how would you cover the cut outs where the stock pipes exit ?

Just my $.02, but that would look awful. What makes a Lightning a Lightning is the dual side pipes only on the passenger side. If you put them out the back they probably wouldn't flow with the body like the side pipes do, unless you pulled a Mustang GT and put them inside the back bumper (but that would also be wierd). Leave them on the side. If anything, try to bypass the gas tank someway and put them on the drivers side at the same spot. That'd be pretty sweet.

You could get the Roush F150 body molding to replace the Lightning side skirts...they look the same but no side exit.

While doing the rear exits add some Yosimite Sam mudflaps, or, some of those with the chromed naked ladies. Add some cherry bomb glasspacks and a Calvin whizzing on a chebby emblem and I think you're set.

Did I forget the stars and bars front license plate?

To each his/her own.

gp: I'm with you - if I had my druthers, I would have preferred a set of rear pipes. I think the rear view sucks without pipes. My .02.

Like I said, To each his own. Do what you want and don't woory about idiots like me!

I saw an L in Nebraska with rear exhausts. If nothing else it could move some of the exhaust noise away from the cab. This guide just left the cut-out skirt on and it looked bad.

First choice would be dual pipes out both sides. Second choice would be rear exhaust. My wife always complains about the exhaust, and I never really get to hear it...Hey, I could roll down the passenger window and drive back and forth under an overpass!

the reason i wanted to run it out the back was to get some louder mufflers but keep the noise out of the cab.i tried some 50 series flowmasters but was too noisy in the cab.

NeedForSpeed,
You forgot to include "Gabriel Hijacker air shocks" in you list. And um, raised white letter tires.

Thumbs down

That's the one thing I really hate about the Lightnings. Having the exhaust exit on the side is fine, but I can't stand seeing the exhaust pipes on any vehicle. They are just plain ugly. I think I'll look into the Roush side skirt and then turn the pipes down behind it, now that would be shweeet!
