Post Gas - Some better than others?

I think it is Texaco or Phillips 66 that advertises that they have the best gas, with some sort of additive that makes it better. But really, is there a difference? If so, who (Amoco/Phillips 66/Texaco/Exxon/Shell) has the best gas?

Colin -

Got to go with Amoco. 92 vs. 91 octane and I think it is better gas here in the midwest.

Jeff -
Thanks, didn't know that. That works out well: I have one gas card - Amoco (and I work at Waterway).

Colin; a few years ago Porsche did a nationwide study on fuels and found that overall Amoco was found to be the most consistent. By that I mean octane closest to advertised number, less trash in the fuel, etc. I can't remember exactly where I read that study as I type this, perhaps someone else can provide a url?

My biggest complaint with Amoco is their octane numbers vary around the country. I've seen Gold/Ultimate at 94 octane in Michigan, but we only have 92 octane available in the KC area.
