Post Chip Tuner Wars

Is it me or is anybody else kinda sick of the way SOME people peddle their wares through posts.

I'm tired of "chip X prorduced more power than chip y, and, someone taking credit for power when a guys also done headers, ported heads and cams. Yeah, I'm sure the 27 hp was the result of the chip.

I've got a bone stock 01 that I will be chippin' this weekend. I went with JDM because they seem to let their results speak for themselves. So does PSP it seems.

Some of you should put up or shut up. I'll volunteer my L and pay for the dyno pulls. send me you "killer programs" and we'll do a real comparison using the same dyno. I'll do just the chip and after I finish all the bolt-ons including long-tube headers.

Forget your excuses about being streetability or whatever. After the dyno I'll take them to strip also.

Something tells me that some will not "put up" and they will not shut up either.

If this is going to start again, cut to the chase and name names or don't start in the first place.

JDM doesn't post here (except for once to his detriment IMHO), he sponsors/owns his own site.

PSP/Sal hasn't been allowed to post here for sometime. Long story from what I recall and would rather not know all the details. Steve???

Superchips/Mike Troyer F150 supporting vendor

JohnnyLightning/Diablo, supporting vendor also.

InjectTech, haven't been around for some time

Hypertech, they don't post here. they suck a$$, nuff said.

So who do you have issues with?

Users of chips (or any products for that matter) are free and encouraged to debate their merits, discuss their pros & cons and compare them to competition...that is what this site is here for.

Where we have run into problems is when the vendor of these products have jumped in, where they were not invited, to skew the conversation in their direction. Additionally, 90% of these threads deteriorated into immature name calling.

Well, we now have THREE "Supporting Vendors" that are chip sellers/tuners. Sal is back on board as well. However, vendors should now know the rules. Even under this program, they are only permitted to discuss their products when directly asked about them. No exceptions and each risks losing their posting rights and title if this gets abused.

Additionally, Doug is now on-board as an additional moderator. I will make an official announcement after I have the chance to talk with him. He is doing a fantastic job thus far.

Anyway, in closing, debate is good for everyone. Immaturity and blatant marketing are not.

Steve

I agree, let the times speak for themselves. Check out the signatures and you'll see who has the fastest combinations.

Yes, Steve has been nice enough to restore my privedlges here on the board and I thank him. I will be a supporting vendor, and I will answer any questions directed at me (as well as helping people with regular tech stuff), but I will not involve myself in any vendor wars. I'd like to stay here for a while

It seems to me that, for someone who is not going to be going to the track(and IMHO thats most of the people watching the board), and wants to get a liitle "seat of the pants feeling" of extra performance most all of the chips will do a good job. To argue about wich chip will provide .02,.03,etc, seconds faster time or 3,4,5, more horsepower seems to be a little silly. Everybody does their own thing, and everyone of them has a great truck. IMHO, can't we all just say "here's the way I did mine, and I sure do like it".

Speedin Bob -

I really didn't want to point fingers. You obviouly read and contribute to this board so I'm sure you realize who has been "enthusiastic" about their products. My point was to try and temper some of the potential misinfromation that can be spread.

Maybe I should back off; If someone is gullable enough to let a vendors posts make your decisions then that is your business. Just kinda annoying to me...like telemarketers.

At least the discussion gets sone energy into this board.

Hello all..

Well I think most of us were messing with cars and trying to make them faster long before we got the Lightnings.. ( I know I was ) There will always be different tuners.. and different chips.. Testing 5 different chips will only tell you which one works best on YOUR truck.. the same chips on different vehichles will produce different numbers.. ( maybe not greatly different but, different )

Moral of the story.. Use that chip that makes YOUR truck go the fastest..

NeedforSpeed,

Johnny's had a tough row to sow here recently. Different issue, don't need to know those details either. Now that he is aligned with another chip company and is a supporting vendor, why should he not be "enthusiastic." It's win-win for everyone, Diablo, Johnny, F150, US, and makes for more competition. This is a good thing. Bear in mind he is just beginning this endeavor and chip-only baselines are necessary. His truck is not stock but to the best of my knowledge does not have headers, ported heads, or cams.

Johnny neither talks smack nor bait-switches his customers. He is a man of integrity in my book. His timeslips do the talking also.

Additionally, thank you Steve for allowing Sal to return. Glad you two worked things out.

Speedin Bob - I understand your points. I really wasn't just firing on JL. There have been others. I certainly did not intend to attack his integrity because I have heard enough to know that he is an upstanding business person.

I've always said that these chips are like Lays potato chips, "nobody can eat/have just one."

Truth be known, I will probably give his and one other tuner's chip a try once everyone gets their 01 programs refined.

What if everyone had "the hot program"; vendor would start competing on price and not performance clains.
