There is no electronic speed limiter on an L. The 147 stock "top speed" is power limited and was run in 2 directions to be "official". Any tail wind will allow a stock L to go over 150 in one direction.

I read in MMFF that it was a speed limiter tjhat would not allow them during testing to exceed 147.. but yes you are right about a tail wind..

There IS a speed limiter in the factory program, but it's set at 255

Man it has been a while since I posted.....

I have to tell you, it was VERY hard to take this picture. I had it buried, but could never get a clear shot through the steering wheel when it was....

Sure thing, basically the 255 just means it's disabled. Here's a shot of it in the software (2001 Lightning).

135 mph here and had plenty more revs to go stock. I wonder what it would do now with the light mods i have done. I know it will do more than 150 mph. 120mph is nothing in my truck. Contrary to Txranger87. Very fun. If you are afraid to do more than 120mph in a lightning then what is the point of owning it. I am not scared of my truck, I just respect it. I wish I had a place to go top speed, but I 275 is always too packed to do it.

I have gone 162mph according to the digital speedo in the dash.

I'm lowered significantly, stiff springs, adjustable shocks, Pirelli System Asymmetrico all the way around.

I've still got 3.55

I also wouldn't do over 140 without changing the stock suspension, WAY to much air under there on the stability side...even if you can push it that far.

This was Spiro99SVT back in the day on a slightly modified stock block:

Don't know exactly how fast, but I hit the rev limiter in 4th gear. My friend on is Kaw Z1000 was reading over 160mph. Truck is lowered and I have hotchkins tuned Bilsteins, truck was more stable than my RX8 was as at 152mph. Couldn't keep up with my 190mph M3 though....but beat him to 130mph.

don't really know. I look at it like Carroll said back in the 60's "If you have time to look at the speedo you are not going fast enough".but I do know when they changed the set up to run along side the strip I keep pushing it to see how fast I could go and still make the turn after the major bump.I did mange to get to 130ish and slam on the brake after the truck came down and made the turn.Figured that was fast enough.Stan
