01 Driving Impressions
Took delivery on my new toy this morning and tried to put some easy break-in miles. Before anyone takes offense, yeah the motor is tight and will loosen up after a couple thousand miles like my 99 did. I just expected with the gears and "extra" 20 ponies to be as peppy as the 99 at 1/4 to 1/2 throttle. Time will tell but the 99 w/chipnfilter and 3.55's will wax a stock 01. Really didn't notice the new Bilstein's ride over the 99. As a matter of fact I kinda miss the 'ole black bi*#h, was very comfortable with it. Guess it's a matter of time before the 01 gets broken-in and "refined". BTW, took every thing off the 99 except the 2" AIM's. Iam selling the clear corners for $25.00 plus shipping, (bought from the online store) and the Swanson chip and 80 Pro-M for $300.00 plus shipping. Bedrug and Wet Okole's are going in the 01. Got to figure out how to change my signature now, Later

I took a buddy of mine for a ride in my 01 L. He's got a heavily modded 300ZX TT, so he knows what a good launch feels like.
He wasn't impressed. I hope it's just a tight engine. I've got 1200 miles on it now, and it doesn't roast the tires on launch. I'm not revving the engine, though; I just move my foot from the brake to WOT.
I'm going to tag along w/ him to get a dyno done this week or next weekend.
Anyone know what kind of RWHP I should see, given the advertised 380 at the crank?

My 2000 Mustang GT *feels* like it has a harder acceleration. Because the L is bigger and quieter it's VERY deceiving. The speedometer tells a different tale, and so do the small cars in my rear-view mirror. If I get into a street race situation I will want to be in my L. Oh, and another thing, the '01 L hooks up like a champ, I don't know what others have written on the subject, but unless you put your foot on the brake there is minimal tirespin on launch.

ACoder: Race the 300Z from a stop to 60... you and your buddy will be surprised. The L feels much slower than an import turbo.
And your L will loosen up a lot after 3K miles.
some '01 dyno info here: https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/010586.html

Acoder,
Someone else posted 345 RWHP for their 01, could be a little high for 1200 miles.
Frans,
I never could do these monster anti-break burn-outs either, but I seem to be neck and neck with other Ls? I run 28-30 psi on the street, but the F1 sidewall says 46 psi max, I wonder.........?

I am in the same boat with the lack of power on my '01. I only have 212 miles on it but when I floor it from a dead stop, the tires spin very little. I am hoping that with a few miles on it that it will get stronger. I test drove another '01 before getting mine and it did feel MUCH stronger. It had over 1000 miles, however.

I wouldn't worry about it too much guys. When I got my 00' it would barely spin the tires also. Now after 18,000 miles and 2 sets of tires I can honestly say that you can't keep them from spinning
Hopefully it's all in the break-in. You guys know how much stronger LS1's get with a few miles under their belts, right? I dropped mutiple tenths and gainedmuch more "tirespin" potential after 8k miles, as compared to 2k miles.

Fast Gator,
Like Frans describes, the truck does not feel that fast it is very deceiving .
I am sure you will be convinced after smoking that 300ZX.
