Post Am I a priss, or what?

I just pulled up to a Jiffy Lube for an oil change and saw the guys in there doing the work. I took one look at those guys and promptly backed up and left. No way these clowns are gonna get in my L and get oil all over the cloth. I'm gonna do it myself this weekend...

Yeah, you're a priss...

Join the crowd. I would have done the same thing.

A priss you may be but I think it was a good move too! Especially after reading the Consumer Reports article (some years back) in which they took various vehicles there to have the oil changed. Many came out with the wrong weight oil!

Sweet mother of all things holy! Don't let ANYONE touch your ride if you can avoid it. You've seen all of the dealer/mechanic nightmare posts on this forum, right? Consider all of the butchery perpetrated by these "highly trained professionals", then imagine (if you dare) what some minimum-wage 16-year-old monkey at the Jiffy Lube will likely inflict on your baby. Don't give ANY idiot out there the opportunity to ruin you day/week/month/life.

Changing your oil is ridiculously easy. It's also cheap. Plus you can be assured that the best oil and filter are used. Plus you can be assured that the drain plug is correctly removed and installed. You'll know that the proper amount of oil ends up in the crankcase. You'll know that the grease fitting on the steering idler arm is lubed, BECAUSE YOU DID IT YOURSELF.

Change your oil yourself. Do it frequently. I do it every 1000 miles because I'm pretty keen on my truck, it's easy, and it seems to make it run fast. Plus I get to roll around on the creeper and inspect everything on the soft, white underbelly of the beast (like the bolts on the harmonic balancer). Never has a more precise oil change been performed. I even wax the damn filter after installation (I feel better having admitted that to all of you).

Jiffy Lube my azz.

WAX THE FILTER!!! Now I know I'm among my peers.

Have to admit, that's the only thing I haven't waxed on the L. Now I feel like I've neglected my ride.
Gives me something to do this weekend... Thx

I agree, do your own oil changes, tire rotations, etc.. Don't let anybody touch your truck unless it's broke. GRRRR!!!

Silver Y2K,
