run no cats in emission state?

is there anyone who is running exhaust with no cats in a state that tests for emissions? if so do you ever get any problems when you take it and what do you think about the O2 sensor sims you can get to trick the computer into thinkin you have cats? anyone using them?

They are mandatory in all 50 states for road driven vehicles.

It would be a federal crime but, you could take your cats apart and gut them and put the shells back on the truck to look like you had cats.
In states that check emissions with the OBD II check you should not have any problems.
It has been posted on this site that the rear O2 sensors should not set off the check engine light.

yea im pretty sure maryland is an obd=II state, so my guess is if i hook up the O2 sims to the sensors b4 going to get tested it should be fine, my exhaust will have 2 resinators that come with that kinda look like high flow cats so they wouldnt be able to tell anyways from just lookin underneath

dought you will get away with it.the smell will be a sure sign of a failed cat at the min.If they use a sniffer you will not pass due to the high HC and CO numbers. If they just use the obd port 'maybe' but if they understand how the rear O2 work it will stick out like a sort thumb.STan

yeh

Im goin to no cats. But I know a inspection guy that does it for me. I know my friend said he can pass it with no cats as long as I dont have and check engine lights. He said let the truck run for liek an hour, get the exhaust cherry hot and then go get the inspection. Itll pass. I live in new york and we have really strict inspections.

in NY they don't use a sniffer anymore on your year truck, they are just going to hook it up to the OBD II system and no codes then you pass, your friend can not do anything for you if there is a code.

Even though I only have to pass an OBDII compliance test I still opted for highflow cats on my fulll exhaust, I don't hate mother earth that much.......

yea i got 2 high flow cats to go with, i think im going to try and just take out the resinators completely if they can and just put the cats in their place, hopefully the shop wont give me too much of an issue...
