Lightning Force Performance

Happy new year to all sorry about being a little late but life in the military is always here and there. So my question is about getting a pulley from either LFP the Quick Change Lower Pulley Kit 4lb or 6lb: and the other one that I was looking at was from JLP the +5lb Lightning Crank Pulley. really the only major difference is that the LFP is quick change. But is there any other owners that might have had good or bad luck with either one thanks.

i have the 4lb from LFP, ive gotten a few things from there, it works great, went on easy, not a problem at all. the only benefit to getting that one is you just have to get the 6lb ring to switch in and out wit the 4lb if you decide you want more boost, although it just creates heat and you dont really gain any hp out of the 6lb over the 4lb and the 4lb is much safer for your block than the 6lb. just my personal opinion, of course if you look up some research on here you will see some ppl will say different and some ppl will agree with that.

I prefer the adjustable hub/ring setup myself. If you decide to run more boost you can step up for minimal cost. Also, if you ever go to a built block, you can step up to a much bigger ring.

I AGREE

Red,
Both vendors have been around a long time and hundreds (if not thousands) have bought trouble free pulleys from both.

Although I think the JLP 5lb pulley is prob the perfect amount of additional boost, I also feel having options to add or subtract Boost easily is a better choice (the Hub and Ring set up). I also agree with relientk107 and would get a 4lb ring, you can always add more later and rings are a dime a dozen...

Well now I have a question. I have a chip in my truck, and as far as I know that chip and a boost bypass are the only mods. Could I buy the 5lb pully kit and just bolt it on or would I need a new tune?

yea you would need a tune, anytime you add more boost like that you need to get it tuned, if you get a lower pulley you might want to get different spark plugs and a colder thermostat also to go with the added boost and new tune. since you already have the chip (depending on what you have if its a diablo sct or programer of some sort) you could take and just plug in a new tune with the programer that is ment for more boost additions, should say in the tuner 87 89 93 octane pulley tune max boost 13-14 or something to that effect. thats what mine says on my diablo tuner.
