New one to the site

Hey guys Im a new one to the site. I own a 03 lightning with some bolt on's. Ran 13.5s on stock tires. First time to the track. Truck has 13k orig miles on it and I just bought it about 4 months ago. Located on long island in new york. By the way does anyone know a Lightning shop on the island? Trying to get a dyno tune and I dont want to travel to jersey.

WELCOME AND CONGRATS (dam 13K is like brand new)
I'm from Long Island also, there's a few of us around, we call ourselves LOONY Lightning Owners Of New York

Unfortunately we had a good Lighting Tuner/Builder (Sal of PSP) but he just moved to Florida a few months ago : o ( (he was in Port Jeff Station)
The only other one around that knows Mod Motors is Mustang Magic in Deer Park but they def specialize in Mustangs and not Lightnings.
You may unfortunately have to plan a road trip to NJ or PA, otherwise JDM, JLP, or WMS, could def send you a nice mail order tune in the mean time

As soon as the weather breaks there is a weekly car show on Bald Hill (selden ny) thats pretty cool. We sometimes get a few Lightnings together to meet up there

Thanks man

How do the mail order tunes work? Would it be ok if Im gonna change my upper and lower pulley? I was thinkinabout doin a 6lb lower and a 2.8 (i think) upper. CnL intake single blade throttlebody, and any other small things I can find.

On a Stock Block Lightning you DO NOT want to run 8lbs of Extra Boost,
you could honestly blow the motor.

If you want to do a Lower and Upper combo go with a 4lb lower and a 2lb upper, (use the Ring and Hub set up and you can switch boost very easy in the furture) At the same time you will need to do Plugs, Thermostat, and install a Tune.

A mail order tune works like this, you call a good Lightning Vendor/Tuner like the ones I mentioned and buy the pulleys and plugs, thermostat and tune from them. Then they ask you a few questions and send you a custom tune for your mods and your truck. Although nothing beats a Dyno Tune you can rest assure these guys have done hundreds if not thousands of L tunes and can get you zero'd in pretty dam perfect without even seeing the truck.

If you want to do it in steps (which really doesnt make sence) a Hand held tuner like the SCT X Cal 2 holds 3 tunes, so you could get one for the stock set up and two for the modded set up (1 street, and 1 race).
JDM
JLP
LPF
PSP
RPM
WBM
can all hook you up...

13K?! I just listed a 2003 Lightning in the classified section with 8,200 original miles! Gotta take care of these babys. I'll be sorry to see her go, but she'd just get beat up if she lived with me in S. Florida. She's lovingly garaged in Georgia.
