AIRCRAFT FUEL 108 OCTANE.
I was planning to get a race chip that requires higher octane fuel, and I was wondering if there is any side effects with running aircraft grade fuel. The guy at the airport that sales it said; "it is rated at 100 octane low lead and that their samples usually come back between 108 to 113 octane". He said it could ruin the catalytic converter because of the lead content in the fuel. I would not think that mixing this fuel would be that bad on the converters. Does anyone have any experience with this fuel? Any feedback would be appreciated.

It will kill the converter. Also avgas is different in burn rates than race gas. My advise: LEAVE IT FOR THE PLANES! Buy race gas it costs a little more, but you'll be glad you did. Lloyd

The lead will kill the converter and mess up the O2 sensors. Also different burn rates, and has drying agents.
Airplanes have much different fuel needs. Don't use it in your vehicles, especially two stroke ATV type toys. (banshees,snowmobiles,etc)

Many tracks have 100 or even 104 octane UNLEADED... Some Union 76 stations carry 100 octane UNLEADED. Use that.
And dont leave race gas in your tank too long... i.e. drive around to empty the tank and then fillup with 92/93 octane.

If your PCM isn't calibrated for it, it does more harm than good (race gas and Avgas) and if your PCM is, you have to run it all the time. MAn, set the PCM for 93 Octane and use pump premium, unless you're trying to run 10-11s that's all it needs, and if it needs 100 octane gas, it really isn't a daily driver...just my 2 cents...

i use to be an a&p mech. for delta a/l. this was 35 yrs. ago but---one tankful and one 200 mile trip burned the valves in my 1957 MGA--cheap english crap--i know. don't use aviation gas.
