Talking $28,000 for a '99 with 65,000 miles ?!?!?!?!?

I stopped by the local Ford dealership tonight because I saw a new 2001 Red L sitting out front. I was laughing at the salesman because of the $5,000 markup they had on the 2001. The bullshiIIing salesman say's, "Well, we have a used one over here you may want to look at". It was a 1999 white L with 65,000 ! miles on it. As soon as I opened the door I was hit with a blast of stale cigarett smoke. Under the hood, the engine was covered with dirt. Interior was really dirty also. Asking price..... $28,000. The wierd thing about this truck is it had brand new 2001 tires and wheels on it. The salesman said someone had traded it in on a new black 2001 but the guy didn't like the 2001 wheels. So he had them take off his '99 tires and wheels and swap them with the 2001 he was buying. I told the salesman, "You can't do that". The the wheel studs on a '99 are 12 mm and the studs on a 2001 are 14mm. He say's " Oh that's no problem"!

FordSales..... Is this the dealership you work for??

Raceway (???) Ford in Riverside has a new 2001 Black Lighting and they're asking $43,000 for it.

If anyone pays that price for it, the smog has affected them in a bad way. On the other hand, if it does sell for that price, it will help keep the value up of the ones we already own.

Regards,

Spike

Hey Red,
If you're interested in that '99, I'll make you a hell of a deal. Buy my '99. Only 11K on it,warranty for 6yr/75K,and NO damn cigarette smoke. I'll even beat their price. How about $27,000? Oh yeah, mine still has the '99 wheels too!

Hey Red I was at that dealership Friday night checking out the red 2001. $37,500 are they crazy? The white had an exhaust system on it right. The sales man said he would give me $26,000 for my silver 2000 towards the red 2001. uh no thanks

The one thing that I haven't been able to figure out: People are still buying electric cars out here.

Go figure...
