Interesting email from ( removed)@ford.com
Personally I think it’s a great idea.
The more 5.4 SC engines that are out there, the more modifications that could come all our way from various new vendors.
Besides is this a real contender for a lightning? The HD weights more i.e. slower, taller i.e. handles worse, longer wheel base i.e. more body roll, and is way, way, uglier minus the seats.
Unless the price of gas decreases significantly, then it could only be a high priced option and I don’t think it’s going to be a $3600 option at that.
If this pans out to be true then it’s probably just a Ford corporate counter move for the Chevy SS, funny if it is then Ford sure didn’t put a lot of effort into countering Chevy’s threat.

Hey Silver (or is it Hi Ho Silver) Never mind
I am too busy doing spring honey does today to research the history file, but I am sure I have read here or on another enthusiast board or two that Harley F150's have been seen driving around either Ontario or Detroit running the L motor, or at least a blown 5.4 of some variation.
I am at least thinking about the possibility of leasing a SuperCharged Harley if they in fact do one. My lease is up in 13 months and I will have to decide if I buy out the existing lease or go for the Supercab which I really would like to have.
Anyway, anyone know what dealers are getting for the Harley F150 new? I see my local dealer has two used ones on the lot, haven't priced them yet, but would sure like to buy a truck at least a little off sticker. We got our Focus for $2k off sticker and Pat's 98 Conti went for $14 off although it was a new leftover in late 98.
I hate paying full list for a dadburn truck!!

HihoAg is Hi ho silver..... I didnt get it till I met him at the dyno and he splained it to me...
I have seen other rumors about using the 5.4 SC in other vehicles. Got to wonder why a guest account at Ontario Ford Plant would send email to webmaster of independant SVT website.

I was poking around a F150 HD on the local dealer's lot yesterday, and it appears that most inquiring customers already assume it's blown. Imagine their disappointment to learn otherwise. A strange marketing move if you ask me. It's all about meeting and exceeding customer expectations, and Ford's marketing department should buy a clue when it comes to specialty vehicles. This isn't my dad's Taurus!!! (bad pun intended)
HD buyers don't want superior power, so there's no need for performance -- even as an option. Who made that apparent call?
Another example; the new Bullitt will purportedly only develop 5 HP more than a stock GT. Nothing wrong with Ford's engineers, since I'm sure that 275 HP was easily attainable. The beancounters are responsible for cutting muscle, and haven't they learned from the '99 Cobra fiasco?
When it comes to specialty vehicles such as these, we (the consumers) don't mind paying a little extra for better quality. We all enjoy such sources of pride in our vehicles, and it's also a competitive advantage. No wonder we have a bad rep for quality overseas.
When you're already charging $32k it's okay to add a few bucks to properly engineer the air-filter, intercooler, or even mundane items such as the lower control arm washers. These nickle and dime *gambles* only make fiscal sense until the resulting fallout hits. You'd think they'd proactively learn from the first round of customer feedback and treat those items Prio 1 fixes?
While the L, HD, or any other vehicles should be regarded as profit centers, I would appreciate more common sense engineering buy-in when cheapo parts are substituted in mission critical areas.
I know that many will say that it's not all this simple due to all the variables, coefficients, marketing trends, blah blah blah, etc. Those excuses are typical bureaucratic smokescreens, and symptoms of a culture in which blame lies elsewhere, and clear ownership is avoided.
Ramble, ramble, rant.
Frans
P.s. This is decidely NOT a Ford-only observation, but it does apply.

**shocker**
If they make it, my L will be sold and one of these procured. No, I'm not joking.

It will probably happen, and it will devalue our Lightnings. I'm sure Ford doesn't care about that since they already have our money. By the way do you think they have enough intercoolers

I work at Ford and have a lot of friends that work in the Final Assembly department. They're responsible for the final build of the vehicles. Saw one of them the other day and he mentioned the same thing about the HD getting the L motor. The other half of the rumor I heard was the L was going to get something new as a motor. What that is, I don't know yet, but I hope to find out soon.

Great another Ford product with I/C problems. Ford sure is living up to its name:
Found On Road Dead
This is good for us as it will give us more power in geting our trucks fixed right. We've all seen how little Ford cares about customers who ONLY spend $30,000, maybe Ford will listen to someone who spends $50,000 on a vehicle.
Afterall, we have yet to see if the '01 I/C is indeed fixed Ford Tough or like our '99/'00's.....Half A$$ed.
I nearly forgot...Maybe, just maybe Thats why Ford has been screwing up engine block castings........So it can be a REAL Harley and mark it's parking place with oil that will always drip.

<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">I heard a very strong rumor the other day from Ontario Truck.
It appears the Harley owners are not happy with the HP or lack of in their pick-ups. Apparently Ford has decide to use the 5.4
supercharged in the 2002 Harley Supercrew. I sure hope this is a bad rumor and not fact ... !
If anyone knows more please let me know.
Thanks
