Red face Off Topic: To CA And Other Tattoo Lovers

Just heard on the morning TV news that it is estimated that about one third of all people who get tattoos contract Hepatitis C, which is a serious disease of the liver. That is all they said other than tattoo palors are main spreader of Hepatitis C. Years ago it was blood transfusions.

If I remember correctly, Hepatitis C has a long incubation period, maybe up to 30 years. There may be tests for it. Never heard of a vaccine to prevent it. There may be one though.

All that pain I went through and now disease. My truck has a effed up intercooler, and I may get hepatitis. I think I will just end it all.

Curmudgen, I think the 10% pregnancy rate only applies to full service tattoo palors.

Well, I still have 25 years left and I really didn't ever think I would make it past 18. So I think I am doing pretty damn good. I'm really not worried. hehe

Cool

01BOLT . You said you had type B hep in the 70's but now you are clean but still have the anti-bodies? So they won't take your blood because it shows up ? Me too. I asked the DR. how that could be since it is incurable. He just shakes his head and says well i don't know. You had it, and now you don't. GRIN.
But I didn't get it from a tattoo.

BTW gang, I made the cover of Tattoo magazine about 5 years ago. It was a skull tattoo done by Bud Pierson (once international tattoist of the year) here in Orlando.

Been sportin' ink since 1987. the morons that don't do their homework deserve it or shouldn't get one in the first place.

Trace,

just dont try them at the same time, thins the blood and detracts from 'the experience.' Let scab over real good (24hours) first.

IF and WHEN I ever get a tattoo, it will be on my left ankle to help distract from a horrid scar, but that is most likely not going to happen. For now, I'll stick with thin blood (On purpose), and getting my tongue pierced.
CA, Do we still have a plan for body mods?

Trace,
Yeah as far as I know. We have to go drinking AFTER though. They're right, alcohol thins the blood and causes the color to bleed heavy and you aren't allowed beer only hard alcohol afterwards for 72 hours if you are drinking. The yeast in beer can cause an infection.

I have 3 on my ankles and only wear socks if I don't want anyone to see them. I also have a tendency to wear a t shirt so you can't see the one on my back or the one on my neck. My favorite is the one on the top of my foot. Trace I might not get a tat since I can't think of anyplace else I would want to put on hehehe

Trace, would it not be cheaper and less risky to wear socks?

Then again, with socks and high heels you would probably loose that necessary "haute couture" look.
