Post '01 Lightning on "B" Plan.... :)

After all said is done, a family member of mine is going to get to purchase a 01 Lightning on the "B" plan, which is at dealer cost. The question is; What is the estimated cost of a Lightning?? My uncle has made agreements, but he hasn't told me how much its going to cost yet, and i'm curious.

Well, that is what my uncle told me... but he is getting one at dealer cost. He is the main tranny mechanic at the dealer.

This is fact!

Cool

ok well....the fact is...bplan is for used vehicles within ford sold on a special lot in dearborn...they are usually lease vehicles held by ford management for a year then sold off. They are sold at far less than dealer cost because they are used. A plan is for new cars for people who work for ford and their immmediate family..that works out to about 3% below dealer cost...xplan is about 4% higher than a plan and is for freinds and family of ford employees....

this is a fact

Yes if he is willing...he can give u an xplan. Each employee gets 4 a year I beleive..or maybe its 6..I forget. Anyway..you would just have to get him to give your dealer a pin number. Dealer cost can be obtained off the net on various sites....xplan is easy to obtain...call any SVT dealer and just ask them what the xplan price is.

Thumbs down

Good luck finding a dealer willing to sell you an L at x-plan. They usually get sticker or above and are not obligated to sell at x-plan, unlike a-plan were they have to sell if the vehicle is available;not sold out or very limited; like the R or the new TBirds.

Toadster...

You are wrong there. Dealers do NOT EVER have to sell at A-plan. It is always their choice. But look around and im sure you will find someone that will sell xplan...I found one that would aplan the Lightning for me.

You have been mis-informed. Only IMMEDIATE family members my receive the plan. The "A plan" is for those currently employed by Ford Motor and the "X plan" is for those who are retired from Ford Motor. The only relatives Ford allows the plan to are immediate family. They define this as "children, brothers, sisters, mother and father of the employee. As a Son-in-law, I was able to purchase on the plan. Nephews, grandchildren, etc., are not included.

There is no reason why anybody that is eligible for the plan cannot buy an L. The dealer may not sell you one off the lot, because technically, he owns it. There is no reason why you cannot order one.

Ugh...I wish people would stop posting information if they are not sure that what they are saying is right. A-plan is for current employees and immediate familie members. X-plan is NOT for retired employees. X-plan can be used for anyone. Each Ford employee is allowed to give away several of these a year to freinds and/or family (non-immediate). And there IS a reason why the dealer would not sell on plan. Dealers cannot just order as many lightnings as they like. They are limited vehicles and are specially alloted to dealers. Some dealers are looking to maximize profit...and will not sell on A/Z/X plan at all. Many dealers are that way actually. Doesn't matter whether or not the car is on their lot yet.

S351-

You are right with one addition. The X plan may also be available to employees of companies that have special agreements or fleet agreements with Ford. I fell in that category and just picked up my '01 at Woodhouse Ford in Blair, NE for just under $28,000.

BTW, they have 2 white '00s that they are selling for approx. $26,500
