Calling REDLITE re:lower control arm fix
Redlite: having the clunk on my new '01L. Saw your past post regarding changing the lower control arms. 2 Questions: 1) the new arms you put in, were the original ones wrong for the Lightning? 2) Did the fix work? Have you heard your clunk anymore? Should we put in the star washers in addition to changing the lower control arms? Thanks.
You need some of Herb's washers. The following are links with relevant info:

meiwah98, regarding your questions. Yes the control arm change worked. It solved the clunk problem, occasional loud bang noise and erratic steering. Erratic steering being excessive and finicky pulling at highway speeds.
I have no idea what the part numbers where prior to the change-out. I only know the ones that SVT told the Dealer to order and install. If that included unique washers I do not know.
Prior to the fix, you could not only hear the clunk noise, but sometimes you could feel it in your feet, not the steering wheel.
I recall it has been mentioned on this Board that there is only one set of F150 control arms, SVT or not. I have no knowledge of that.
Check the little yellow stickers on your control arms if you can for the part numbers that I posted in January 2000. Should probably be little white and green SVT stickers on the control arms too, as well as the springs. Stickers are probably on top of the control arms. Good luck.
