Angry help me with my dealership..

https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/008812.html

okay.. the service manager said i would not be getting ANY sort of compensation for the damage done to my truck..

what do i do? who do i go to?

all i want is a free extended warranty and something better than a focus or a ranger as a loner vehicle. thats all!

the tech who worked on my truck said they had problems with the lift before and that they had told the service manager.

HELP!

Brooks,

You need to tell us more. I have been wondering just yesterday if you ever got that mess fixed. Did they fix it, etc??

Talk to an attorney. Tell them what happened and get an opinion on your options. Most of the time the first discussion is no charge. Once you know where you stand ask the attorney to send the dealer a letter stating what your position is (what happened and what you expect to make it right) and let the dealer know that you intend to pursue a legal remedy if they can't or won't come to terms on the damage done to your truck. It shouldn't cost too much to have the attorney draft and send the letter. Then see where that takes you. You may end up in a legal battle over this and you will have to decide if it is worth it or not. The attorney should be able to tell you what you can expect the whole process to cost. Good luck.

Get a lawyer. Bring this lawyer WITH you. Walk in calmly, introduce the lawyer to the dealer manager. Then let the lawyer handle it!
THEY damaged it - they HAVE to compensate you. If you can't bring a lawyer, show up with a local TV news crew. When they see a news truck & the cameras, I bet they will JUMP to fix it the way YOU want it fixed! Good luck!

haha Lady you rock!

Brooks,

I'm thinking they have gotten away with this before...if they didn't think they could get away with it they wouldn't do it...you for sure need a lawyer.

i havent gotten anything fixed yet.. i was about to drop it off when i asked the service manager about compensation.
he said "nope, noway" he told me to call the 1-800 # for ford and ask them to compensate me.

i am waiting for the general manager to call me back now. (well, tomorrow)

if i have to talk to an attorney, i'll be asking for a new truck.

They should have to give you a check for the amount of the "diminished value" of your truck since it has been previously damaged. My guess is it should be between 800-1500 dollars for a L. Your lawyer should know about this law. DO NOT accept this check until the truck is fixed to your satisfaction!

Get everything in writing to your satisfaction. Do not let them touch your truck until everything is spelled out. If they fix it that could be considered compensation. Be careful. Be calm hear what the manager has to say, document everything. Get the names of everyone involved. Especially the guy that told you they have had problems with the lift before. Use legal only if you have to. They will try and call your bluff. Do not budge. What you are asking for is very reasonable.

Calmly hang around the showroom and nicely make conversation with everyone that looks at the trucks. Pretend you're looking for another vehicle...

Just calmly tell people the truth about what happened to your truck. Something like, "I have a Lightning, but their Service Dept. dropped it off the lift and won't fix it".

Make sure the salesmen know what you're doing. If your approach costs them money, they'll have to react quickly.

I emphasize the word "calmly".

Brooks,

In that case, somebody owes you. This isn't an Escort we're talking about. And you don't treat it like a Escort. If this were my truck, I'd be raising 10 kinds of h*ll. They owe you!!

Brooks, Sweetie.. All the advice above is VERY GOOD. I think I remember telling ya the same thing a while back. Please don't allow them to bend you over like they're trying to do. Talk to an attorney, have a letter drafted (it may cost ya $100), it will be worth it in the long run. You brought your truck to them in good faith, they dropped it and aren't willing to pay their dues. I know you're level headed and aren't going to go all whacked out on them, but you must stand up for what is owed you.

Good luck, Babe.

called ford & filed a complaint today.
the guy taking my complaint sent a copy to the dealership and to ford.
i told him how rudely they treated me and the whole situation.
he put me on hold and called the dealership to confirm a few things, and when he came back he said "man, they ARE rude".
they were rude to the ford rep himself!
thats one way to lose a franchise!

anyway... i have a meeting with an attorney monday morning. hopefully he will tell me what my options are. the more i deal with the dealership, the more mad i get.. the more mad i get, the more i want a 2001 lightning out of the deal.

oh yeah.. IF i decide to get my truck fixed, you can bet i'm gonna take it to the best place to have it fixed. (read - most expensive) my insurance company said that i could get it fixed anywhere & they would charge it to ford.

brooks

thanks trace!

update...

well.. i talked to a couple of lawyers today..
they both think it may cost more money to fight the dealership than i'll get out of them.
they said i'd need to find an expert on value depreciation to say how much i should get for the damage to my resale value..

now what do i do?
