Question Lightning insurance terms?

I am 24 and single. I was wonddering if I can get insurance on it as a F150 2wd pickup or if they classify it as special high performance and will charge me out the butt like it was a Vette or Camaro. My Tahoe ins is 1000 a year.

Here's one to figure out - I pay more to insure my '97 Ranger than I do to cover my L.

This has come up before and from what I remember, it depends on the insurance company. Some have a special class for the L's and some just throw it in with the other trucks.

State Farm knows about Lightnings... My rate went up $120 a year over my 2000 Tahoe.

I switched to Progressive, kept same coverages, and saved 400 a year

***tip*** the more quotes i did online(started from scratch each time with same data) it kept getting cheaper they know its a Lightning.

Of course these savings dovetailed into my mod budget. re-investing, yeah that's the ticket

The big insurance companies know about it but I found in my research that its still cheaper than high performance "sports cars". The estimates usually were only about $100 - $150 more a year over a standard 2wd xlt.

I pay 30$ more for my '92 Explorer than I do for me Lightning with the same coverage. The trick for me is that it is classified as a pleasure vehicle, not a day-to-day and I work for an insurance company
