Post 99 engine is obsolete, Ford has a new replacement engine!

For your information, you can no longer get a direct replacement for the 99 L engine. The old part number was 9G250AA, the replacement engine is 1G250AA. I don't have any other information yet. This is a result of my quest for a new engine for mine, which is cracked! I will keep you updated on the battle.

Kent,
Well maybe this time you will break this engine in correctly instead of getting crazy with it like the old one! Just kidding. Good to hear you will get a newer model, usually they fix any problems they find in the older ones in the newer models. Have fun!

But, says the spoilsport in me....

Do you get the new intercooler and blower assembly or will they merely swap that and presumably and PCM from your existing motor. Or perhaps a new intercooler of the 99 vintage that they seem to be putting out as replacements on those and 2000 Bolts.

Only reason I ask is that there have been several posts on this subject lately and all have indicated the dealers are not allowed to put 01 blowers and intercoolers on pre 01 Bolts due to some problem with Emissions Certification.

Sure don't want to pee on your parade, better check this angle out though.

Thumbs up

I talked to the SR last night and he told me I was getting a entire new engine, blower to pan, of 01 vintage-read 20 more horsies! Check first digit in part number. I'm not sure about the pcm. This is the first good news I've had in a week. Let's hope its true.

But I thought a couple of days ago they were going to put your old blower and lower intake 'due to emissions certification'

Whats the deal?

I hear the 01 motors also got an ultra-low emmissions rating from the EPA versus the low emmissions rating us 99-00 Lightning owners.

I think you were looking at Bill's reply. A couple of days ago, they were trying to strongarm me into buying an 01, saying they could not get a replacement engine, trying to tell me they would have to get a new 5.4 block and swap out all the engine parts. That turned out to be a bunch of BS. They changed their mind when SVT called them and told them they wanted the engine complete for failure analysis. The only downside is that they will probably take several weeks to get the new engine in and install it.

Same thing happened to me. They shipped a complete 01 motor and told me they were going to swap out the entire thing for days. At the last minute they just swapped over all the old parts. I was super pissed.

I had the odd motor rattle right before shifting @ ~3500 rpms. They told me all along I would get the entire new setup then I called for an update and they said its ready we just pulled all your old upper, lower, cooler, blower off the old motor. Do a search I documented everything on this board. PISSED PISSED!!!!!

Question

Sam,
Did they change blowers too, or just crap like water pump etc.? What was the nature of your engine failure?
