Question Keypad on 01?

I thought the only option was the Tuneau cover over the bed? How do you get the kepad in the door? Thanks guys.

Replace the door handle with one having a keypad cutout, buy the keypad, plug it into the prewired jack in the door, locate the passcode on the RAP module (white box under the dash on drivers side), test before puttint he door back together. Wa la

about $150 and a couple hours tops.

Doing this on a 99 with out the prewire was a bear.

I ordered my keypad and door handle when I bought my truck, 2 weeks ago. The saleswoman thought it was pretty funny ordering parts for a truck that I didn't even have yet... Anyway, the keypad is on national backorder, but my handle is in (as of last Fri. anyway). I hope to pick it up tomorrow. There is a link to install pics on here somewhere, do a search and you will find it and part numbers. Speedin Bob gave you the condensed version of the install instructons! I may take pics of my install if I have time and wen I get the keypad. Infinity components go in this weekend, so I hope to have the keypad and just do it all at once.

Later,
Roger

z96,

There have been a few detailed threads about this last summer with some pics too. It may even be covered in the FAQ.

The tricky part is to undo the yellow clip on the rod leading from the handle to the latch mechanism. This will allow easier access in the removal and reinstallation of the handles.

Love that keyless entry!!

Just finished the keypad install on my 01 "L" The keypad is on national back order, due in on April 7th. I went to the dealer, and they have a locator that checks other dealers inventory. Found one about 30 miles away. The part numbers and some detailed pics have been posted here before. Do a search on Keypad.

I'm considering the Keypad upgrade but haven't made it to the dealer to order the parts. I have the part numbers from the previous posts but was wondering if the part numbers for the door handle and pad were the same for 2001 as 2000?

Part numbers are the same. I just this minute picked up the door handle in red. The keypad is unfortunately on national backorder until April 15 or so (dammit).

Tahoe: You order the door handle by color.

Hey guys... I'm at my dealership right now and my handle and keypad are both in. This place is sweet, they let me surf the net while waiting for a service tech (picking up my tonneau cover). So, the keypads should be off of back order now.

Steve,
Just got done picking up the truck from the tint place, and it looks a million times better. If I get home in time tonight, I'll put some pics up. If the weather holds here for a while longer I'm going to the drag strip, and I'll have some times to post too! You better hurry up and get your truck, I'm out modding ya like crazy!!!

Later,
Roger

If I got a white truck I would have to paint the piece to match?
