Got in the L this afternoon, started it up and all kinds of BAD sounds came from under the hood. Drove the the liquor store with missing and chugging engine cause I knew I would need a drink soon. I took the L to the dealer to check codes, he got 4-the significant code was "look at service manual" which he said was never good. I'll find out monday. It felt bad enough to be bottom end, we'll see.

I have been off of here for quite a while and just now saw your post. Keep us informed as to what is wrong. I am going to wait until I bring the L to Ohio in a few weeks to get the I/C replaced (if it starts leaking) Hope everything works out well!

Good news, it was just the PCM. They will get one here in a couple of days. BTW, the first thing they asked me this time is if I had any performance modifications, they are jonesin' to void the warranty it seems, that's why I don't have any significant mods yet. In the meantime, I will be driving the infamous Metro!

I've got a '99, white. Yea, I've been taking it to Spradley, they are getting to know me on a first name basis! They seem to have some pretty good SVT techs though. They replaced the IC in less than 1 day! (after a 2.5 month wait for parts).

Holy crap! How did they go from PCM to cracked block? I mean, that's a pretty big leap! Any idea as to what caused the block to crack? This concerns me as an owner with some mods...

OMG!!! How long should it take to get the new engine in and are you gonna get a 2001 motor? That would be pretty cool. I should be back in town around the 6th or 7th of next month and then leaving for good about 2 weeks after that. We should get together before I leave for good. Hopefully by then you will have your motor installed and everything. Take it easy.

They are saying weeks to get a new engine at best. It will probably be a 99, I'm not sure. I'll keep you posted.

Sorry to hear about your luck. Sounds alot like mine. While driving my daily driver (95'L) home yesterday I saw a 99or00' White L with temps pulling into my neighborhood. I tried to follow him so I could talk to him, but he pulled right into his garage and closed the door. I'd like to think that seeing both my Red L's parked in front of my house had something to do with him getting one Anyway keep us updated. BTW which service guy do you talk to? I'm very old friends with Scott Anderson. Tell him you know Scott Nix and he'll either spit in your face or shake your hand.
