Cool Hallsville Mustang going berserk........

while Chris runs a 12.98@106+mph. Found the video over at LS1. You guys that were at Fastech on Saturday should remember the car. 600=hp on street tires is not a good thing. Very big file.

Why is this mustang racing? It seems unsafe. Also why no tire smoke?

It sure looked slow. I think that is the slowest looking car I have ever seen get loose and crash. Not saying it IS slow, just looked slow.

Sounded like he was back peddling the gas on and off to regain traction. Must have blown the engine and got oil on the tires.

I can't pull the file up, but I see from the title that this was Wes Rogers' car. I assume it is his '95 black Cobra. This is a 331" stroker with a blower just like mine.

He built his engine right after I finished my 4-bolt block 2 years ago. I'm not surprised he was at 600+rwhp.

Did he blow it up? Are you saying he crashed? He's actually a very nice guy.

As far as tire smoke goes...there has to be some adhesion for there to be smoke. If you're _really_ spinning the tires and there's literally no bite, then there may not be any tiresmoke present. Been there, done that, seen that.

And yes...I run my car on drag radials, and yes its hard to keep the power to the ground...basically impossible. I'm sure the reason it looks slow is b/c he's spinning the tires into 4th gear. I have video where you can hear my car blowing off the drag radials at the 1/8mile in 3rd gear at 90+mph. Still runs mid-11s at 130+mph on those tires.

Cool

Wes,

You are correct; that is the car. I would really like to see that car run with some sticky tires. Actually the guy must have a lot of guts because he entered his car in no-electronics and raced after that. He also was the guy that worked his a$$ off helping us get our trucks dynoed at Fastech on Saturday.

Wes is a nice guy. I've known him for quite some time. We're not best friends, but he and I have conversed back and forth for a few years...especially when he started to build up his motor. Our combos are nearly identical.

I didn't know he was over at Fastech. I will have to go over there and check that shop out. They're doing some work on my brother's 99 T/A right now, in fact.

That car runs about like mine does on slicks...mid to high-10s at over 130mph.

So, since I can't see the video can you tell me if the car had a wreck or not?

Cool

Started in the right lane, lost it a little after the 1/8th, crossed over to the left lane taking out the 1000' cone and barely brushed the left rail with his left rear. No real damage, just paint and the left exhaust tip. Pretty cool though. I was standing at the 1/8th marker and saw it up close and personal.

I was in the left lane burnout box, ready to run when Wes did this and it spooked me for a minute. My Lighting would've likely been right ~next~ to him had we run together. For a few minutes during cleanup, I considered pulling out. I can't imagine getting hit at the racetrack in my everyday car, then having to pay for it out of my pocket because insurance won't cover it.

Thought it through, then ran a 13.73

I agree that Wes is a nice guy. I'd sure like to see his Cobra hook up though.

James
