Post Saw my first 01 Lightning...kinda made me sick!

Well,me and the wife pull into the local wally world and there it was, a red 01 L!
Im drooling on myself just walking around it...beautiful truck. Although it was dirty as hell and had bugs stuck all over the front end. Then this teenage kid comes out while Im looking at it and I hear the alarm beep from him unlocking doors. So I start asking him about it and he opens the drivers door so we can check out the inside.
There was probably an inch of dirt all inside the truck!!! 600 miles no less! So he tells me his daddy bought it for him for his birthday.(must be nice!) So we part ways and I tell him nice truck. As we enter wally world I hear all this noise, look up and this kid is doing figure 8's in the parking lot!! Then gets out on the hwy. and burns rubber all the way through 2nd gear!!!
Its a shame that truck has to go through all of that with a kid that doesnt know what he really has. Oh yea, he said his insurance was 3200.00 a year!!! Gee, wonder why! Guess his dad pays that also.
Im 34 and would give anything to have a new Lightning, and to see one abused like that makes me sick!

I am 35 and have a problem with you putting someone down just because he is young. Did he do anything to you ? Be happy for him, he has the kind of life most of us could only dream of when we were that age. This seems strange that the American dream is to be filthy wealthy, and when someone displays some of that wealth, we put him down.

As for abuse, the truck can handle it.

I think he was more disgusted by the dirt in/on the truck.

I don't care if the person was 84,if he had to go to work everyday to pay for that truck,
it would be clean and would not be doing
donuts in the parking lot !!

Blaklight...you and I see things a little different! I dont care how wealthy this kid or his dad is,that wasnt my point1 His dad needs to put that kid in POS car and let him drive it the way he wants! THEN MAYBE the kid will apprecite something as nice as a Lightning!! Thats whats wrong with "most" kids today, they have no respect for anyone or anything and have everything handed to them!!

I understand what you are saying, you would treat this truck as if it was special. What I am saying is maybe, for him it is a toy or even a beater, his F1 McLaren is his "special" vehicle.

Blacklight- Your right, If it was mine, it would never see rain nor dirt, get waxed once a week and would stay in the garage coverd up until a pretty day.
Yea, it could be his beater. Didnt think of it that way. Hell, he may have a F1!!! LOL!

It is a shame that someone so young (and undeserving) gets to ride a Lightning. When I got my license in 1990 I drove a POS 1984 Duster, and gradually worked my way up. I now drive a 1998 fully custom/fully loaded F-150 Lariat SuperCab, and I appreciate it. It gets cleaned regularly and is rarely dirty, I don't rag on it. The best thing is I EARNED IT. I thank my parents every day for teaching me the value of hard work.

big-fast-lariet, same here. I drove a POS 1976 Nova that fogged the mosquitos when you drove it! I worked at a chicken joint and saved the 1200.00 to buy it. It was ugly as s****, but it was mine. I told my dad one day that my brother could ride the school bus, cause he wasnt riding with me to school.(it just wasnt "cool" at the time)
Well, my dad tore my *** up and I had to ride the bus as well!! I hated him for tearing my *** up all the time, but Im glad he did because I see the results of parents not correcting their kids today.

Cool

Cool, a source for 2001 parts when it gets wrapped around a tree. I hope he enjoys it though!
