Ok,many of you have not heard from me here on this board for a long time. I have not been allowed to post here for reasons that do not need to be discussed at this time, and hopefully when I click Submit, this post will go through. I am posting this here because it will get the most exposure in the online Lightning community, and what I have to say, needs to be read.

In a very short time, our close knit Lightning community has gone from friendly, informative posts and replys, to rock throwing, pissing contest, nasty debates. It's really ashame, and it really hurts me to see people who should be all friends, at each others throats. Six years ago, I founded the NLOC, because I loved my Lightning and I wanted to meet others and get people together to share a common joy. I then started up Power Surge Performance, becuase I wanted to be able to offer my knowledge and talents for making neat stuff, to other Lightning owners so they could have as much fun as I was having. Everything I do, every sacrifice of my own daily life I make, is so that other Lightning owners can have just a little more fun and enjoyment. Even after all the bashing I got on this board because I could not keep up with demand when the Gen 2s came out, I still struggled every day to make sure I made every Lightning owner as happy as I could. And it took a long time for me to realize that I could not satisfy every single person, because that was not acceptable to me. But things change, and people change. I still strive to make everyone as happy as I can, but I don't let it mentally bring me down anymore when I can't please every last person.

As far as the Lightning owners themselves, most of you people are more extreme in thier obsession with thier trucks, than most other "car fanatics". I can't blame you, I'm the same way But there are down sides to that, that effect both vendors and consumers. At first, my PSP stuff dominated all other chips. So the other chips started redoing thier calibrations to catch up, and the cycle begins to be the best. At one point, most of us vendors were happy with our current chip calibrations, as they were safe, and all performing about equal. But customers demand more, and we are pushed to please our customers, so we must push the envelope, and now you see "race" programs, that run leaner and make more power, but require special fuels. Every now and then problems arise from people pushing the limits of thier trucks, and the vendors get the bad rap, not the customer who actually caused the problem. So customer A puts chip brand X in his truck and goes faster than customer B who it his buddy, and has the same mods but uses brand Z chip. Now he calls company Z and they try to make his truck faster than the brand X chip, and the cycle continues...

Meanwhile back on the boards, all this info is getting displayed for the world to see, and people are making thier own conclusions, based on what they read, which many times is not all the data required to make those coclusions. You got guys running awesome ETs, but leaving out the part that thier trucks weigh 4400lbs, or that the air temp was 50 degrees, or the barometer was 32.00 and many other variables that effect ET. So people only see one side of the story, but yet will still make thier own conclusions on a vendors part, even though it's the customer that may have caused it to look bad. At the same time, customers are wondering why they have purchased every part a particular vendor sells, and yet they cannot achive the ETs the vendor claims. This confuses not only the customer, but everyone reading his post on the net when he is dissapointed.

Now people are getting confused and they want answers. People in the Lightning community are VERY fortunate that most of the vendors themselves are actually here on these boards to talk to in person. In most businesses, you cannot talk to the owner of a company, you cannot even get close to talking to someone "in charge". Half the time you are lucky if you even talk to someone who knows what they are talking about . But in our Lightning world, customers are lucky enough to talk with the actual people that make thier trucks fast. This is good you the customer, but bad for the vendor, because now people feel like they are on a personal level, and if a vendor does not want to answer a certian question, people get offended. Many Lightning owners demand answers to questions that you could never ask any other company. And when these questions do not get answered, people get upset.

This business is a very cut throat business. Unfortunately, the uglyness of the real part of this business has been dragged out into the public eye of our Lightning community. People know too much. And it's not that people don't have a right to know certian things, it's just that it's better overall, if they don't. This is what keeps the happiness and tranquility in the world of consumers. Would you eat that hamburger if you knew they dropped it on the floor? Would you buy that new car if you knew it was damaged on the transport and then fixed before you got it? Would you buy that pair of underwear if you knew somebody else tried it on then but it back because they were the wrong size? Of course not. But the end result is that if you never knew, and no harm came to you, then you go on living your life normal and happy. That is why it is important that certian things not be aired out in the public, no matter now much people demand.

I really think that instead of people demanding knowledge that they think they have a right to know, that they should be greatfull to have the knowledge shared with them that they currently get. I made this post here on a board that I am banned from, because I feel that it is important for everyone to know these things, because as I've always said, I'm an enthusiast before I'm a vendor. Seeing what has happend to a community I have been invloved with and helped to shape for the past 6 years, really makes me sad. I think that everyone who reads this post just needs to take a few minutes to sit back, and really think about the whole situation. If everyone does that, I think we can bring this Lightning community back to the way it once was.

Please do not ask me any questions, or post any responces that require me to reply. I will not make another post here on this board unless the person who banned me asks me to return. I just felt this post was needed so that we don't all wind up hating each other.

Kudos Sal. I don't know and don't want to know. We all have enough politics in our daily lives. Let's not bring it into what most of us use as an outlet. Face it people our trucks are transportation, hobby racing, showing, etc. I doubt anyone's livelyhood depends on wether or not you win the next round with you truck. I got out of professional motorsports because of this kind of crap. It does not belong here. No "road-rage" needed. Enjoy.

Well said Sal. The only reason I jumped in on a post was because I didn't lke the bashing of a vendor. I do believe we ALL need to stop this BS, & get on with race season. More fun & less aggravation for everyone. Everyone just needs to chill out. Before we all hate each other! Lloyd

Perhaps if some of the vendors did not insist upon airing their business laundry in a forum where it is not allowed, this never would have been an issue. If anyone here wants to discuss this further, please do it offline. I have little to no desire to once again cowtow to a vendor that chooses not to support a community that helped build his business. That is bad business and still has no place here.
