Bad new for our Vet Friends
The new Consumer Report stated the 2000 Corvette was one of the least reliable models tested this year. I hate seeing any of our fast cars get a bad rating. We all want the best that any dealer can bring to bear, not just some fast junk.

It isn't because the Corvette is junk, just simply corvettes are probably one of the most ragged out vehicles from the day their owners drive them home. Corvettes can be very reliable if driven like a normal car.
I,ve been a subscriber of C.R. for over 14 years and I'll say this.C/R is a great publication when shopping for cameras, vacuum s and refrigerators but to this day I do not EVER take their opinions on autos.Their colored dot doesn't jive.Example: 91 Mustang V8...body intgrity, brakes and suspension are avg or below....93 Mustang V8...above avg!!!WTF...there was no changes to these components since 87!!There are dozens of these examples on many cars that I personally know about. They also favor imports 2-1 regardless of any test you see. They do pick good imports, though I have yet to see them give any U.S. auto a high mark. I love Fords but I gotta tell you I myself beleive the late corvettes are fantastic autos, well engineered and get better each passing year.I know of at least 4 freinds and 1 brother that swear by them. So, take that review with a grain( more like a scoop) of salt.Just my .02
I had an 00 corvette. I bought it new and put 11000 miles on it. I didnt abuse it but I drove it hard. I had one problem and that was with the seat belt. I think consumer reports dont know a whole lot about cars.
Yea, I agree. Did you see the one where they said synthetic oil didn't help. I couldn't by that either. I have never heard a Vet owner that didn't love his car. Yea, some of us have bad trucks but overall --- They are great.
I had a 98 M6 C5 prior to my L. After 43 warrantee actions on about every system the Vette had leads me to the conclusion that it's entirely believable. I have NEVER had a vehicle with so many problems.

All I can say to that, Undy is that there always are a few that slip through the cracks as "lemons". Hell I read about L's that have a slew of problems too ie: intercooler, front ends,vibrations,etc..but all in all we all know its a great truck. One thing about U.S. built autos is that although we throw these awesome machines out into the public with their quirks and recalls, most(chrysler is exempt) manufacturers learn of these problems and either eliminate them or improve on their design.I've seen this over and over and if there is one thing they are guilty of is the lack of R&D on the (and this is important) Final Inspection. The manufacturers are so anxious to show off their perceived new found technologies, that they act all excited like "Joe Joe, the circus boy" and serve us all the Fillet Mignon before its even cooked! The product and technology is there...its just not tested enough.Thats how we Americans do business these days. Its a shame, but one that can be rectified easily.Until then we just have to chew harder.
