Red face 2001 Fog Light Mount Picture

Had my new '01 L up on the hoist to remove the trailer hitch and install my 2" Aim drop shackles and decided to see how the new fog lights are attached.

From the picture below, you can see that the mounting method is very different from the '99 and '00 method. Don't know whether this is a simple swap. Instead a single nut to remove the whole assembly, there are two black push-in plastic buttons on top of the assembly and a white push-in plastic button on the lower right, It looks like this also has an adjustment screw in it. There is a very different cut out in the bumper cover as well, not to mention a different plug assembly. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this doesn't look like a simple drop in.

And yes, that it dirt in there. The driveway into the shop is dirt. Grrrrrrr!!!

Unhappy

Arrrrgh. Looks like a job for someone who knows what they are doing. I am dead set on getting the '01 fogs. Looks like it is going to cost me a ton of money.

Question

WHAT04... How about that picture of the 3rd brake light? Gotta see what it's gonna look like if it ever comes. How come if you own a "L" it always seems like your always waiting on something?

Looks like no more H3 bulb either. Is the lens glass?

Sorry, forgot about the third brake light picture. Monday. Promise.

And no, the lens is polycarbonate or something. Definitely not glass. Same as headlights.

Thumbs up

WHAT04,
Already got the fogs but Ford lists a different mounting bracket then the 99-00s but havent released the brackets yet. In your picture I don't see ant mounting bracket. Are the mounted to the bumper cover? Maybe I don't need no STINKIN' BRACKETS!!!
On the 01 3rd Brake light it's a direct replacenent but you have to remove the headliner to get to the wiring to plug it in.
Boy, the LEDs sure Light Up the World!! Don't they?
Thanks,
Dan
