Talking I just ordered my 01L chip n' filter

Well...... They're finally ordered. I just got off the phone with Rob at JDM. Their setup sounds awesome! I went with the single program and the 12" big mouth filter. I won't publish the times they say they're getting... don't want to start any more L wars... heh...heh. They've the both chips in stock and the filters are coming in this Monday. I'll post some impressions after the install.

Undy - Great minds think alike. I ordered mine yesterday. Did you get the crankcase breather? Apparently Jim spent alot of time calibrating a chip to work with a breather and not get into lean conditions.

NeedFourSpeed,

No I did't... Rob said nothing about it. What's the scoop on the crankcase breather. All it does is ventilate the crankcase. How's it affect the program/HP?

Cool

Undy, it lets air into the engine that's unaccounted for by the MAF.

You going up to VMP tomorrow?

The breather reduces pressure in the crankcase which does two things according to Jim. 1. ~5hp gain. 2. Reduces oil that finds it way into the intake.

The breather is an SVT part that fits on the valve cover where the oil cap is. I did not go into alot of detail with Jim, but, the chip has to be calibrated at a bunch of different mph intervals which took him several days to do.

I did not see any disadvantages so I went for it.

I was talking with Rob to give him the computer code off the door and he said they are getting alot of orders all of a sudden.

A crankcase breather doesn't let air in. It lets combustion gases out. At WOT the crankcase is under positive pressure, not a vaccuum. It should have nothing to do with the mass air... Any air coming into the engine would HAVE to pass throught the mass air sensor...no other way to get in. There's no new technology here. It just aids in ridding the crankcase of any significant pressures. I'd be skeptical of any claimed HP increases on this one and a little worried about oil cascading down the side of the engine, dependant on any oil separation device built into the breather.

4D THNDR,

I'm not going this weekend. I want to get a little more miles on the truck before I beat the snot outta it! LOL..

Undy,

There is a thin plastic tube that feeds air (and oil) into the intake boot behind the meter.

LTNBOLT has some pics on his site. I've done the mod and have piece of mind that it is not inhaling oil vapor anymore.

hey Undy. I just got off the horn with Jim at JDM and he told me what #'s he's been getting with the chipped 01.Just what I thought from the start! Anyone for a slice of Humble pie?Anyway, Jim said that in the next week or so he'll be releasing a billett filter adapter for the 90mm MAF that will house a 12" bigmouth filter that adapts to the factory fender inlet!Look for it on the SVT performance website.Looks like another great year for Ford's flagship performer!

Well, I could speak from experience. Before I quit JDM, I also tested several different ways that could help the oil ingestation problem. I like many others, tried the breather on the valve cover for a few days. I also tried that same breather with a 3 inch Mr.Gasket valve cover breather in the oil fill tube for several days as well.
After several different attempts with one or the other or both filters in place...I was still receiving a SERVICE ENGINE SOON light, Jim checked it out...and stated that the filters were causing a BANK 1 LEAN, BANK 2 LEAN condition. And after further explanation, he informed me that the oil was not coming from there, but was actually being drawn from the motor under heavy DECEL.
So I removed the filters to loose the code, and all has been well since then. Still have the oil, but not as much considering I had a chance to clean everything out when the intercooler was replaced.

I am glad to hear that could possibly be a fix for this finally.

ANYONE know the part# for the SVT breather their talking about?? There HAS to be a way to fix this!!

Undy -
You may want to talk to Jim @ JDM for a better explanation than I can provide.
