Question 2000 vs 2001

Will a 2000 with the 3.73 gears, Chip, JBA Headers, AIRAID w/Big Mouth Filter be comparable in performance with the new 2001?

If we are talking about a bone stock 2001 then the 2000 with those mods will blow the doors off the stocker 01.

GOTECHS,

I would aggree with you, yes the same.

The 2001 makes ~20 more HP than a stock 2000, but a chipped 2000 makes ~20 more HP than a non-chipped 2000. You have already taked the gearing into consideration so, what's left? I guess 01blackSVT is also right, driver.

I haven't heard anythink positive about the HP rating for JBA headers on our trucks.

The only item on the 2001 that I drool over currently is the intercooler, MAF for 1999$200, aluminum driveshaft $170 no big deal.

Side issue here:

I've search all over the Goodyear home page and around the Net, but I haven't found anything special about the 2001 F1 GS's. If the 2001 pull a little better 60' then I think it's from the slightly softer rear shocks.

Funny I have a SVT Enthusiast Volume 3 Issue 3 in my hand and it doesn't explicitly
state that the F1's are any different than the other G2's (page 11), I wish/hope they are? It just states it uses this type of tire.

Where did this rumor come from?

Rumor? LOL

"A second partnership, with Goodyear, has yielded high performance, custom created, Eagle F1-GS tires that adhere to the road using a newly formulated rubber compound. Edgy and angular rims provide the perfect setup for the tires."

I didn't have to search all over the internet to find it either.

Newsflash: The treadwear rating on the OEM tires for the 2000 MY was already 300, not 320. So the tires are no different. At least not on my 2000. Your mileage may vary.

Oh, not much money. Probably $200 for a blower, and $100 or so for the cooler. For $500 tops should be able to have all the '01 changes........But wait ! The '01's will always be slower than the '99 & '00's. Why are alot of people worried about putting the '01 parts on the older trucks ? Hmmmmm.............. Does everyone want to go slower ?

The supercharger is the same but the intercooler has 1 extra row, I think that this will be addressed in April or a little later for the dregs.

The tires seem to be the same. Just because the 2001 article mentions the tires doesn't mean it wasn't newly formulated back in 99. It's still unclear, do you guys believe everything you read in a ragazine?

I'm starting to believe that FD's friends think they have a special G2 2001 Lightning. Aluminum drive shaft from NASA, 90mm NASA MAF, MAF snorkel from NASA, 373 titanium NASA gears, Chip from NASA programmers, Intercoolers from NASA fluid dynamists, I wish we could have these on our trucks (warning, sarcasm has been inserted here!).

I’m surprised Ford didn't give them there own color, I’m sure it would be BS brown?

Hey unhappy '99 owner with the oversized mouth :
I don't believe everything that is printed in a magazine. Maybe you ought to get off your keester and find/buy/borrow/steal, a new 2001 L brochure.

Oh lame one, here is from the 2001 brochure:

"Wheels and Tires
The cast aluminum alloy,five-spoke wheels measure 18x9.5 inches, and fitted with 295/45ZR-18 GoodYear Eagle F1-GS unidirectional tires. These tires were specifically developed for the SVT Lightning, using much of the same wet/dry high-performance technology introduced with the F1-GS tires on the 1998 SVT Contour. The Lightning tires have added sidewall strength for towing, and for 2001 THEY INCORPORATE THE NEXT GENERATION F1-GS RUBBER COMPOUND."

Everybody is a GD expert know it all. Now find something else to **** and moan about you sorry sack.

Mid_12's,

Don't make fun of the edelbrock/holley/nasa high-flow, 300% larger intake manifold.

Some poor guy here in Plano just turned a 13.9 with his 2001. Sounds like a honest man but don't let him know about the secret manifold switch or he'll be 1.3 seconds quicker in the 1/4

01ArrestMeRed,

Reread your own post DA, you just agreed with me. It never says that the tires are different on the 2001. Just that the tires are designed for the G2 Lightning and it's stated in a 2001 brochure. Learn to read before you post.

Why in the hell do you think I'm unhappy with my 99? BTW buddy your statement about 99-00 owners putting your stuff on our L's, you have that backwards. Ford put our stuff on your 01 L. Maybe after a couple of years your L will be as fast as mine.

Not all, but some of you 2001 guys remind me of R/T and Rice visitors. This never happen with the 99 to 00 owners, I guess a whole new inbreed?

Who has made such a great name for themselves that they have to change their names all the time ?

You need to to be able to READ and COMPREHEND at the same time.

What part of this do you NOT get ?

"AND FOR 2001 THEY INCORPORATE THE NEXT GENERATION F1-GS RUBBER COMPOUND."

I got your Inbred hangin.

As far as how fast your L is ?? I don't see your proudly posted timeslips. Know why ? Cause then people might recognize you as someone hiding behind a new name.

I probably have 3 0r more vehicles in my stable right now that will clean your plow.

I'd like to meet you someday and show you a little down home hospitality.

Next...........................

Hey lgogether, I was not making fun of the 2001 intakes, just exaggerating a little. in fact, truth be known, the 2001 intake is one the most significant improvements over the 99/00 L's. here is a link to kinda prove it.
