There was someone that did it, do a search for double-din installs...

I've been thinking about it, but I may go with an Alpine so I can also cram an Empeg in there.

Oh man, i have looked at everything from Nakamichi to Alpine. Thats a nice unit, if i remember that one it is CD not DVD and it had no TV tuner. The next model up has the TV, but still no DVD. Why get a monitor if you have no video input? No the new creamy unit is the Kenwood 910, AM/FM/TV/CD/DVD/monitor in a 1 din unit. its the only one with everything so far. I didnt bother to look at that rediculous F1 for what 3k, please. Crutchfileds has the Kenwood for 2400 down from 2800.
After much deliberation i have decided NO on the video action at least for the truck. Best cd/tuners are what i've focused on. I am not a Sony fan, but look at the C90 reference unit. 850-1000, its the cats A$$ for CD tuners. "Competition ready" copper clad chassis, its a killer. Once you add it all up if your serious about a monitor, get the Kenwood, adding a TV tuner and DVD would blow your cost for the Eclipse past the Kenwood.
You started talking about double din, all i have found isnt up to par quality wise, compared to say the Sony. I love the graphics and started looking at double dins first myself. Depends on what you want, i am only getting exactly what i want or i am waiting. i am also not getting anything that isnt high quality. SHooting for the all JL system except the head. 1 amp to go. I was just about ready to play, then the new satellite radio came up and want to make sure that whatever i get is ready for it, i havent ask yet.
Good luck, anythings better than what we started with, LOL Have you seen our stock speaks yet, same speaker as "tickle me Elmo" i think.They got a lot of nerve calling anything Sanyo, premium. What ever happened to the Lincoln/JBL deal, cant ford play too?

I found the Alpine CDA-W550. It's a double din unit with cd, cassette and cd shuttle control. It has a brushed aluminum finish that really makes the middle of the dash come alive. It also has a subwoofer output with a level control and graphic equalizer with cool lights that can be set 12 ways. The first place I went said it couldn't be done. The truth is that the snap in kit wouldn't work but a good installer at the next place said no problem. He made is own brace. It's been in for 1 year with no problems. You can title your cd's so the ones I play all the time say SVT LIGHTNING when it is playing. The letters are large enough to read when someone is next to me at a light at night. I've had a few double takes of the stereo.

I understand where your comming from about getting an all in one w/ DVD, TV, ect..., but lets look at the cabin space, or lack there of. You will never get an accurate Dolby Digital field in such a small spcae. I figure just get something good quality and looks good, but doesn't have to break the bank like my car will

But, again, I understand where your comming from, whenever I get anything done with my cars, or audio, be it home or car audio, my moto has always been "Do it right the first time".

Thats a nice touch, I like that. I guess the other cars have to be high enough to see in the cabin though, you wont get too many ricers able to see it, but who wants there respect anyway

True about the other vehicles. Every pickup and SUV(not many of them around) can see in. All the ricers are about eye level with the side pipes. They can stare at them as long as the light stays red, then they get the tailgate.

 

I am putting a Clarion DRX 9765zr headunit with a Clarion TVX5653 on top. The TVX 5653 is a in dash tv Expanision that hooks into the headunit. Should turn out nice. I also have the Alpine CVA 1005, and DVD in my mustang. It is a real nice unit also
