Question Magnaflow questions?

I would like to add an aggressive tone to my truck, but I do not want to loose any performance. From what I have read on this site the Magnaflow is the way to go. I would appreciate any comments that would help me out such as part numbers and any installation hints. I plan to have my stock muffler and and tailpipes removed as one unit, so that I can reinstall it later if I want.

Thanks

Rob

Cool

Rob - I am running the 2.5 inch dual in/out Magnaflow with JBA headers. Sounds like this:

I left the stock hangers on mine and added Borla SS tips.

Rob,

I have the Magnaflow #12568. It is closer to the same length as the stock muffler but it's a little louder with a deeper tone. The 12468 is about 4 inches shorter so it should have more volume. These mufflers both have 2.5" pipes. I would stay with 2.5" tailpipes so you don't loose any bottom end torque. In the past people that went with 3" mufflers and tailpipes said they lost torque on the bottom regardless of the brand. The beauty of this muffler is the built in X-pipe.

Here's a description of the mufflers.

Here's the dealer locator link. Just type in your zip code.

Sixpipes,

Love those tips. What was the cost or should I ask? They look great though.

Thanks for all the info!! All I need to do now is decide which one to buy the #12568 or 12468. Any more opinions on the two would be appreciated.

Rob

Collins,

I'm in the same boat as you regarding the muffler am planning on using Magnaflow #12468 yet not sure how to config the tips.

From what I read (and can remember) this model is a bit louder yet shorter than OEM.

I can get this at a local muffler shop and will more than likely have them install it.

Just installed the magnaflows #12468 today along with new tailpipes and stainless tips. I was hopeing for a little louder sound, but it may still come in a few days. Absolutely no resonance in the cab when cruising. Has a deep mellow sound, not the growling sound of Flo's. Total cost including tax was $260.

Another question for those with the Magnaflows - any change in the flutter issue of yesteryear?

Some have said it's gone with new mufflers - very curious.

Angry

It appears as if Magnaflow's Dealer Locator is a misnomer. Of the five "Dealers" I called, none of them knew they were. Yes, I talked to the Managers. One is searching for me......

Borla tips came in today. Very nice. Two days from Summit..

'00BlackLightning,

It will pickup some volume over the next few weeks.

Speedin Bob,

The muffler shop I went to recommended the Magnaflow to me. I had a Flowdisaster installed a week before at another shop and was totally unhappy with the way it sounded. They cut it out and installed the Magnaflow which sounded so much better. I looked at the dealer locator after the fact and there was the muffler shop along with others.

casper,

did you try the dealer link? http://www.magnaflow.com/04dealer.htm

I'm calling the dealers the search turned up and closest to me (west side of Indy) to see if they have a 12468 in stock.
