Question Left Airaid On/ Removed R9 Superchip - Please Comment

In a recent post,I reported installing the R9 and not obtaining any significant power gain. However, it did shift more crisply. Then I put on the Airaid and power seemed to improve. Since then, the truck has stalled out three times for no apparent reason and the power gain seems to have lessened. I removed the chip tonight and test drove the truck with the Airaid and no chip. The shifting reverted to prechip, but the power increased. I also noticed that from a standing start at WOT, the boost gauge pegged at the ten after it shifted into second. ( I thought this was from the chip. It seems that it is from the Airaid). I intend to return the chip. Any ideas?

Sounds like the classic case of not having the surface where the chip is connected clean enough. That's exactly the same issue I've had in the past.

Please read my post again more carefully. It did work - at first. I did;however, notice some pinging in third at WOT.It stalled three times, but would start up again each time and then not stall again. It was almost like it was starved for fuel. I am aware of the prong cleaning issue. This is not the problem. I also checked whether the chip was loose. It was not. I had it taped to the computer with duct tape. I think the problem is with the chip. When I had a 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC, it took three different chips from superchips to make things right. The third chip did it. I think that Superchips underestimates the variability among trucks of the sme model year. Not all complex mechanisms with the same parts perform the same. Comments?
