Question Amp install ?????

This afternoon i'm having a amp put in my L.
Is it common practice to mount the amp on the
back of the cab ?.How do they do it with out
going through the back of the cab (holes).
Where else can they put it ?.

I put my under the seat too and even though it was bracketed down, when my L got broken into the insurance company wouldn't cover it because amps don't come factory with the truck...

I am going to make an amp rack for my truck and place it against the back wall sandwiched in-between two subs. I don't like putting holes in my truck. I hope the weight of the amps and subs holds everything in place. Besides the only time they will move is when you are driving and there is not much room for them too move behind the seats.

Anyone have any good recommendations on where to ground the amps. I dynamatted the whole truck and cut the screws that were sticking out of the floor that used to hold the tool box in. Not sure where to ground the amps!

It is a common place to mount a Amp. If they use a peice of 1/4 inck plywood behind the carpet on the back wall of the cab. There are some special bolts with a extra flange that can be countersunk into the board. This way there will be no holes drilled into the metal.

Sometimes depending on the size of the Amp it can be mounted under the seats, sometimes you have to relocate the jack.

I am not sure where I am going to put my Amp yet, I had it under the seat in my 99 f150 but it didn't have a power seat. I will have to look some more at my truck and see where I can put it, the truck is just a week old.
I am thinking about using the 4 ADS 6inch subs that were in my SHO. I have a idea that might work, and still leave me with some room behind the seat.

Let us know how it turns out, and show us some pics, I can allways use new ideas.

Okay how about the "power on" wire to turn on the amp? I have my amp and subs but want to try and use the factory head unit. Is there a power on wire for the changer that can be used to turn on the amp?
