Thumbs up The NEW MOD!

Here it is, a new mod.

Less weight = more speed

You know how much I love speed mods but I also love comfort and conveyance mods like the keyless entry that some of us installed. The following mod is exactly that, a comfort and conveyance mod. A mod that cannot be picked up aftermarket. It is a dealership-installed unit only and for certain Ford models only and for certain dealerships only. I tried to price this mod from a few dealerships and had trouble getting a quote. No one could find it in their order books. From all that I can gather, the dealership price would be around $260+.

I found a company that will sell them to us and we can install ourselves. The product comes with installation instructions and is not complicated. This remote system is on the hush, hush because if Ford or the manufacturer of the system discovered that this company is selling them to us, their distributor franchise for the product will be canceled.

If you are like me, I have a remote control in my truck for: 1) the garage door, 2) The entry gate into where I live, 3) My father-in-law’s garage. Three remotes have been eliminated from my glove compartment. Now, if less weight=more speed, then I just picked up some ET at the strips.

All kidding aside, this is a Ford product that is used on the luxury cars, Why not have it in ours.

It is a three-button remote that will work: garage doors, remote gates, remote home lighting, remote coffee maker, anything that needs a remote to active can now be activated from within our L’s.

It can be mounted on the dash or, like I will do, placed on the visor.

Our price is $161 + shipping. If this is a go for you, contact me at:

below is a photo of the three button remote. There is a gray that matches our L’s.

Looks pretty cool! It would be great for when I pull up to the Firehouse/squad room, I could have the door open b4 I even get out of my vehicle. Wouldn't have to use my key in the side door and make my response time faster.

Wasn't there a voice notes recorder that looked just like that in the Ford DIO parts catalog?

If your objective is to dump a ton of remote controls in your life try this.

It's also about $200

Frans- I saw a 2001 HD at a show this weekend that had the voice recorder you were describing. Pretty cool little gizmo.

Ahh, the infamous "Homelink". Please don't let this deter anyone from getting one but I thought I might pass along my personal experience with this gadget. I had one in my '97 Mitsu Eclipse Turbo that came factory equipped. It was great. I had my parent's, my brother's, and my best friend's G-doors programmed. Life was good until I moved into my own house and had garage door openers installed. For some reason not "all" doors can be programmed. I have 2 Sears installed Craftsman openers, and neither would allow my homelink system to memorize the code. If you make the purchase, keep the receipt and test it first before installing. Good luck and enjoy!

Jim,

In the 2001 Ford Truck Accessory catalog, there is something very similar to what you are showing here. It's item #: 19A361 . It's labeled the HomeLink Visor with Travelnote and includes the Voice recorder a couple of people have mentioned. It shows that the price isn't yet available. I don't have the catalog right in front of me, so I can't give more detail.

Great mod! I may take you up on this if I can't get the above.

Thanks!
James

You are correct. There are a few 2001's that are coming out with the "homeLink"

What we get is the same unit. Except it will not come through the dealership. As I have stated, I tried to get a quote but so far, all I could get was an estimate of around $260 + tax which is a far cry from the $161 + shipping we get

You could also get the "Travelnote" but it costs more. I saw it and was not impressed but then I love that three button and didn't want to spend extra $$$$ for the recording part.

Hey, Jim Shaw here.

Regarding the remote buttons. If you are interested, Tuesday, I am actually installing mine. Email me a note and I will e-mail back pictures and how the install went
