Cool

My father, and a friend of mine both had 87 grand nationals. They run 13.9 stock, they are quick cars. I have seen them running in the 12's and even a couple in the 11's at New England Dragway...Bill

MID_12s,

Congratulation with your 2001 L and welcome to this board.

Regarding your race, If your 2001 is bone stock with 1000 miles be aware Buick GNX or GN. If it is a Buick GNX he will smoke your a$$.

MID_12s:
1/8 mile you will probably loose, the reason they are so quick is they are a 3.8 V-6 turbo. Off the line just six until the turbo starts to spool. They don't spin much at all unless you power brake them to spool up the turbo..Bill

Thanks, I thought that they ran in the high to mid 13's stock, with a good driver, which he is not, he has no clue how to build up boost before launch, I think it will be close, will post the results either way!! BTW this is a great board, have been an on-looker for 4 months.

he knows what your runs, and if he has a chip, it's to tune for his higher boost and other mods that he has had 14 years of refinement to put together. what would you think if someone wanted to run you with a 3/4 ton dodge truck that weighs over 3 tons, must be a reason

the owner of the GN is a relative, and its just a FORD/gm thing, I beat him before with a slightly modded 93 cobra, 5 years ago, and he has not driven the GN since, just put in on blocks. When I told him I was getting a Lightning he said that he would take it out of storage to race me again. Thats all there is to it, just a little family fun!!

I had a Typhoon before and turbos are a pain in the ***.1 clue ,look at his tire size if its an older one with 16" tires hes a piece of cake.just watch out for those nice white lines they put at every light they'll bust your tail loose. try to get set in front of the line and don't stomp it and you'll be fine. I ran a guy with the plate "uhh huh" with my 6 year oldwho loves this truck more than me.We ran to about 90 and he wasn't even at my bumper. you just have to get out FIRST.

Aren't the Grand Nationals the cars that the Corvette people hated? I saw them on TNN and they said "GM made Buick stop making them because they were faster than the Corvettes"... is this true?
