You are right and I will give credit to Dilfer, he did manage to be on a team that won the Super Bowl.

You have forgot, defense and Ray Lewis win the game. I don't care how good your offense is, Ravens defense will win. Tennessee thought they had teh team, but they never saw the Ravens defense.
In saying that he played like Montana, Young, Bradshaw, Aikman, et al, I was reffering to his performance in the Super Bowl. He was composed and precise. He didn't make a mistake. He played with the passion of a high school kid, and most of all:
HE WON THE GAME.
So, he played like Montana and company in that he was a winner in the biggest game of his life.

Good question. If anyone has ever had the homefield it would probably be the Dolphins, back when the Orange Bowl hosted EVERY game.

He didn't screw up, but he did miss a lot of open receivers. But 153 yards and one TD with less than a 50% completion percentage does not a great performance make.
You saying that Dilfer had a big hand in winning that Super Bowl is like saying the intercooler in our Lightnings is responsible for making it such a damn nice truck.
I want no part of an NFL where Trent Dilfer is celebrated as some kind of future Hall of famer cuz he rode the coattails of a great defense.
The best Quarterback on the field that day for the Ravens was Kerry Collins. 5 INT's, nuff said!

<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">But Dilfer is still walking around today with a Super Bowl ring on his finger. He had 153 yards and a touchdown, yes, but that's all that they asked of him. He led a running oriented offense: his offense is centered around getting the ball to Lewis and the possesion game to Sharpe. And he got the ball there, but his receivers dropped them: Patrick Johnson in the end zone. Or they got caught: Ismael along the sidelines.

And then there are the third string guys on the team that got rings as well. Trent got his ring right along with the towel pile coach and the waterjug coach and the, well you get the point. Trent played in the SuperBowl like he did when he was in Tampa. If here were all that great he would still be here. Yes he was the QB in a running based offense but then again maybe they knew better than to let him throw the ball. It's a good thing Trent got his ring when he did because if he were on a team that was counting on him to lead and deliver the only ring he would be wearing would be from a cigar.
